On a Reddit publishuser Infamous-Ad3287 revealed the exact steps she took to grow her hair out.

She explained that her hair, which went from curly to wavy during her childhood, suffered significant heat damage.

The Redditor’s hair care journey has seen her not only solve the problem but also boost her growth.

Her before and after comparison showed how her hair went from just below her shoulders to her waist in 12 months.

She revealed that one tactic that helped was applying oil to her hair “one to three times a week.”

The post explained that she applies oil to her scalp and ends “when they feel dry.”

She recommended applying oil to your hair one to three hours before washing it.

“In the shower, I leave my shampoo and conditioner on for at least three minutes,” she said.

“Afterwards, I sometimes use an herbal rinse made with watercress leaves, [which] you can get it in any Asian market.”

However, she mainly attributed rapid daily activity to the increased growth.

“I also emphasize scalp massages, I do this for at least 10 minutes a day,” she explained.

Although the Reddit user joked that she probably “spent a lot of money” on her massager, cheaper versions are available.

You can get one silicone scalp massager for just 69p from Temu.

O Bigmingham Dermatological Clinic reported the benefits of scalp massage for hair.

They explained that the technique can help nourish the hair shaft and strengthen the roots.

The 4 phases of the hair growth cycle

Hair experts at Philip Kingsley have shared the four stages of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen.

Anagen Phase: Also known as the ‘Growth Phase’ or ‘Active Phase’, this is when the hair root cells divide more quickly, forming more new hair.

During the anagen phase, hair grows about half an inch per month [about six inches a year]and faster in summer than in winter.

This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.

Catagen Phase: After the Anagen Phase, your hair cycle enters a short transition phase known as the Catagen Phase, which signals the end of active hair growth and cuts off individual strands from the blood supply and cells that produce new hair.

Approximately three percent of all hair is in this stage at any given time and it lasts for about 10 days.

Telogen Phase: The third stage of the natural hair growth cycle is the Telogen Phase, a resting period in which strands remain in the follicles but are not actively growing.

An estimated 10 to 15 percent of your hair is in the telogen phase at any given time.

The Telogen Phase lasts about three months or 100 days.

Exogenous Phase: The final phase of the Hair Growth Cycle, when individual hairs are released from their follicles and fall out.

Now the whole process starts again.

According to experts, this helps to “increase the growth of new hair while strengthening existing hair.”

They added that scalp massage also softens and conditions the hair, making it more manageable.

Helps evenly distribute hair’s natural oils, creating a shiny, shiny finish.

Professionals also credited scalp massage with increasing resilience and preventing brittleness and split ends.

According to the Redditor, there are additional steps you can take to prevent split ends.

“I also do a lot to make sure my ends are healthy, I use a silk pillowcase and bonnet at night and I try to keep my hair braided whenever I’m not out and about,” she said.

“I have also recently been using the search and destroy method, which [involves] Look for individual split ends and cut them off before they break further along the hair shaft.
