A medical beautician has revealed the most effective methods for reducing the appearance of wrinkles without cosmetic injections.

Among her anti-aging tips is a non-invasive way to target “deeper” lines in mature skin.

Dr. Anatália Moore is the founder of a self-styled skin, aesthetics and lifestyle clinic in Manchester, England.

She has extensive experience offering non-surgical procedures and recommending the best skin care for every concern.

In conversation with The US Sun, she shared tips for looking younger without resorting to Botox.

Ban botox

Dr. Moore said it is a “misconception” that toxins are the main treatment for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

“Anti-wrinkle treatments primarily reduce muscle movement,” she said.

“So if wrinkle lines are your concern, anti-wrinkle treatments are for you.

“If, however, it is the fixed lines that you would like to smooth, although, in the long term, anti-wrinkle treatments may be in the plans for prevention, in the short term there may be another way.”

She said it’s “only to a certain extent” that a consistent anti-wrinkle treatment that prevents creasing can heal existing lines and prevent new ones from forming.

“As we age or if the lines become deeper, this healing ability needs to be enhanced with regenerative skin care and treatments,” she said.

SKIN CARE CLIPS

Dr. Moore said a “good quality” skin care regimen practiced consistently will give visible results.

“Before you even think about actives, having a strong skin barrier and hydrated skin will naturally reduce the appearance of lines,” she said.

“This means choosing the right cleanser for you to ensure your hydration stays balanced.

“Also replace natural stabilizing oils by using a balanced moisturizer containing ceramides, as well as hyaluronic acid and shea butter.”

She said it only takes a few weeks for skin to appear smoother when the outer layers of the skin are hydrated.

However, active ingredients are needed to heal the internal support structures.

“Active ingredients like retinoids, vitamin C, and peptides are among many things that increase collagen and elastin production,” she said.

If the lines are deeper or the skin is more mature, only prescribed dosages of actives such as retinoids will be able to achieve healing levels that can smooth lines and reduce wrinkles.

“They are essential for reducing the appearance of more fixed and deeper defined lines.

“Be aware that although you can get some good products over the counter, the ‘healing dosage’ they offer may be limited.

“So if the lines are deeper or the skin is more mature, only prescribed dosages of actives such as retinoids will be able to achieve healing levels that can smooth lines and reduce wrinkles.”

HEROIC HEALER

Moore recommended a healthy diet and longevity-focused lifestyle to keep skin healthy from the inside out.

“Ensuring your diet is rich in omega-3s, vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc and biotin and supplementing with good quality supplementation when needed will give your skin everything it needs to heal,” she said.

She said it’s also important to prioritize sleep and keep stress levels low.

She revealed that regular movement and self-care activities “slow down the chemical aging processes” throughout the body, which leads to worsening lines and wrinkles.

“And of course, seek shade, wear a wide-brimmed hat and be religious with your SPF, as UV is responsible for more than 80% of signs of skin aging,” he added.
