Wedding days are often very stressful, and the preparation process—including who in the bridal party should do what and when—can add to the nerves.

London beauty club founder Louise Bailey has a solution to this common problem.

A hair extensions expert with two decades of experience, she shared what she considers the best wedding party hair order to ensure everyone is happy, especially the bride.

YOUTH AND YOUNG

The last people to get their hair done are usually the ones with the least hair and don’t need a complicated look.

“Flower girls and young bridesmaids should be the last ones to sit in the chair to get their hair done,” advised Bailey.

Just add “sweet angelic curls” or style longer strands into a low bun and let some loose pieces fall around your face with some additional accessories.

The hairdresser said, “You can’t go wrong”

SHORT START

The first is not the woman of honor, but anyone with short, fine or straight hair, because they are generally easier to do and keep the hairstyle longer.

“Starting with those with short, fine or straight hair will allow your stylist to get into a natural rhythm and spend more time with those with more hair,” Bailey said.

Some of her suggested looks are a “simple blowout,” a sleek, straight look, or “some romantic, loose waves.”

Those who prefer their hair tied up can create an elegant low bun or ponytail.

Incorporate clips and accessories to maintain a look that lasts all day.

She said it’s crucial to embrace your hair’s natural length and texture and not use products that are too heavy.

“However, be careful with more complex looks on these hair types, as it can be more difficult to maintain volume, causing it to fall out as the day goes on,” he added.

LONG AND LONG

Next comes anyone with longer, thicker hair or hair extensions.

“Those with more hair should sit in the chair to ensure they get the time and attention they need,” Bailey suggested.

“These hair types may naturally have more volume, but being able to hold most styles can often be challenging and require more tools and products.”

She recommended a trick of adding hair oil to combat shine and keep frizz at bay, while “a setting spray, heat protectant, hot rollers or curling iron, and a good hairspray will keep it in place.”

If you have naturally long, thick hair, she advised keeping it down in soft waves or half-up for an effortless look or experimenting with textured hairstyles.

Extensions are also a great way to add extra volume.

Clip-ins can be removed easily and offer temporary length and volume, while tape-ins “provide a seamless, less head-heavy look.”

“The best looks for extension wearers are typically loose braids, ponytails and half-up styles,” she said.

Bailey said the trend is toward chic, elegant buns inspired by Sofia Richie and Vanessa Hudgens for medium and long hair.

BRUSHING BRIDE

First comes love and third comes the beautiful bride.

No matter what type of hair texture she has, Bailey said “it’s always better to do it closer to the end.”

This way, he can stay as fresh and safe as possible before she walks down the aisle.

If possible, hire a separate stylist just for the bride so she doesn’t have to wait forever to get her hair done and experience delays.

“You don’t want a bridezilla on your hands!” Bailey warned.

FINAL TOUCHES

Lastly, Bailey said to “always allow extra time for additional touch-ups.”

This is especially for those members of the wedding party who got their hair done hours before the ceremony began.

“This includes checking for any stray hairs, re-attaching the straps, adding a final spritz of hairspray, and applying any additional accessories,” she explained.
