15 minute rule
Hayley insists everyone should wear SPF daily to protect themselves from UV rays, whatever the weather.
And your secret hack? Wait at least 15 minutes for the product to absorb into the skin before applying makeup.
She said: “Applying makeup immediately after SPF can interfere with the absorption process, which means you may not be as protected and can also lead to uneven coverage or makeup application.”
Prime time
Hayley also revealed that primer is an essential step in her makeup routine during a heatwave.
She said: “A step in the makeup routine that often goes unnoticed on those busy work days, however, this step is crucial to ensuring your makeup withstands the heat and lasts all day.
“The Primer creates a smooth surface for makeup to adhere to, as well as offering that extra dose of hydration, essential to ensure your look stays put.”
Less is more
“Opt for minimalist makeup in the heat,” added the makeup expert.
“Wearing more layers of makeup increases the chances of uneven makeup at the end of the day.
“Take off the makeup look and opt for a light, dewy foundation, thick brows, and glossy lips for a cool, calm, and collected summer makeup look that lasts all day.”
Waterproofing
Hayley revealed: “It can be tough outside in the heat, so switching to waterproof products can help stop your makeup from sweating throughout the day.
“Using a rich, moisturizing foundation can cause makeup to slide and sweat, so opt for a lightweight, waterproof, oil-free foundation and be sure to remove waterproof mascara with waterproof makeup remover.” of water formulated at the end of the day.’
Matte
“While a dewy foundation is a must-have makeup look, in warmer weather your skin naturally looks more luminous as you sweat more,” adds Hayley.
Instead, she recommends switching to a matte foundation, as they are “more sweat-resistant” than foundation with a dewy finish and are less likely to melt or break out in humidity, leaving your complexion looking oil-free all day long. all.
Gunpowder power
Hayley says: “Certain parts of the face are more likely to shine when dealing with heat, so apply translucent powder to areas like the T-zone to keep your complexion looking fresh.
“Remember, don’t use too much powder as it can look cakey in the heat and make sure to replenish these areas throughout the day.”
Lock it up
Hayley encourages beauty fans to “fix your look” with a good setting spray.
She said: “The spray setting prevents makeup from smudging and melting in hot weather.
“Then, once you’re happy with your look, apply a few sprays to make your makeup smudge-proof.
“You can also use a setting spray to refresh your makeup throughout the day.”
Smudge until you fall
“If you find oily areas throughout the day, make sure you have pads on hand to help remove excess oil and keep your makeup from sliding off,” insisted Hayley.
Stay protected from the sun
And finally, SPF is a must.
Hayley said: “In warmer weather you should reapply your SPF throughout the day, but using a cream will end up messing with your makeup look.
“Many brands now offer sprays or roll-ons with SPF for your face to help you top up your sunscreen on the go without messing up your makeup.”
