LUSH has a way of bringing you some incredible collaborations.
From the Shrek spa experience to Bridgerton bath bombs, they know how to follow a trend and create must-have products.
And their latest collection is ideal for any ’90s fan, as they’ve teamed up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I was a big fan of aquatic superheroes as a kid; in fact, a Tuesday night was the only time I could eat in front of the television – as it was pizza and turtle nights.
So I was desperate to get my hands on this new collection – and it did not disappoint.
The selection arrived in a Turtles van box and as soon as I opened it the incredible smell hit me in the face. I wish someone had invented smartphones for scratching and sniffing as it truly is a treat for the senses.
In most Lush products the focus is on being environmentally friendly.
In fact, the team at the high street beauty brand claim that in Real lifeturtles love Lush because of its commitment to helping keep waterways free from excess waste.
They put their money where is their mouth while the foam packaging of my box melts if you put it under the tap – very clever.
The first one out of the box was a giant bath bomb in the shape of Donatello’s face – sold! Not only did this look comically cute, but it also smelled brilliant with tangy lemongrass scents.
It’s definitely the biggest bath bomb I’ve ever seen, and when I put it in the water and it failed satisfactorily, I understood why. After a while in the bathtub, it cracked like an egg and inside was a little surprise – a purple bar of soap in the shape of the iconic Turtles van.
The Lush team says you can collect them all to get a different surprise in each one.
I loved the pizza bomb. Shaped like a slice of pizza, it smells good enough to eat – but please don’t be tempted. Like the bath pump foams, the bath’s melting topping—made from organic mango and illipe butter—melts to soften skin.
The collection also includes a Green Machine Bubble Bar, which you run under the tap to create a foamy bath, and a Turtle Power Solid Body Scrub, which uses sea salt and bamboo stem extract to exfoliate your skin.
There is also a Goongala Shampoo bar. I am a recent convert to these. I never believed that a small bar could wash my incredibly long hair – but they are top notch, leaving hair silky smooth and lasting a long time.
The strangest and most wonderful of all is the Krang bath jelly – channeling the quartet’s archenemy. I have to be honest, this looks really weird when you open the can. It bobs and shakes like a blancmange and looks highly unpleasant.
But the smell is divinely fruity with aromas of bergamot and vanilla. And the jelly goes on like butter, leaving the skin super soft.
If you’re a fan of the Turtles – I’d say this collab is worth investing in… man.
