WITH two jobs, a household to manage, and a wedding to plan, it’s almost too easy for me to get stressed or nervous these days.

So the idea of a Treat Yourself Lush party – with 90 minutes of relaxing treatments and a few relaxing massages – was too good to pass up.

And I wasn’t disappointed after an afternoon with the dream team at Scotland’s biggest high street beauty store.

I was invited to visit the huge branch on Buchanan Street in Glasgow with my two daughters – two of my bridesmaids, Aimee and Sarahjane – for the lavish pampering party.

After a tour of the bath bomb experts’ secret new spa, we were taken to the store’s party area.

One of the many amazing things about Lush is the fact that all of the chain’s products are handmade and fresh and use only natural vegetarian ingredients.

So the first thing we did was hand create one of Lush’s most popular items – the Let the Good Times Roll cleanser.

And I have to say, it’s definitely harder than it looks!

The team prepared all the ingredients – corn flour, glycerin, talc, water, corn oil, polenta, cinnamon powder, gardenia extract and popcorn.

After mixing everything and kneading it like dough, we got a body scrub that looked exactly like the product the store sells.

The team was impressed, so we bottled it and each of us took two tubs.

With the product finished, we moved on to the party pampering session.

I tried Lush’s new Turtles bath range – the jelly soap looks awful but smells divine

We each chose from a variety of oil bars to give an incredibly relaxing hand and arm massage.

I love a good massage. For me, there is no better way to relax, so it was amazing to have my problems gently eased with the intoxicating scent of the massage bars.

It worked wonderfully to release the everyday tension that builds up in your arms and wrists – but it was my thumbs that really benefited most from it. You don’t realize how much tension builds up there!

I chose the Therapy bar, which soothes the skin and calms the mind with glorious floral and sweet scents of lavender and neroli.

Aimee opted for the Magik bar which has an earthy aroma with mushrooms and floral tones with violet.

Sarahjane chose the Turmeric Latte bar which has a cozy scent of velvety vanilla, creamy tonka and a hint of spice, making it feel like a comforting hug.

After the glorious massage, we were treated to a facial with the Full of Grace Facial Serum Bar.

I felt completely relaxed and this feeling only deepened as all my tensions melted away.

The most amazing part was the way the team explained what they were doing with each stroke, because it meant that when we got home we could actually perform the same routine to our faces.

And I’m not going to lie, my fiancé really liked it when I did the same treatment on his face when I got home!

Feeling completely relaxed and light-hearted, it was time for the final part of the party – trying out some products and having a skincare consultation.

This started with sampling the different sparkle powder powers, which looked amazing on Aimee.

Blowing it into the air, just stand under it and let it fall on you so that your hair and skin shine in the light.

Aimee grabbed a bottle before heading to TRNSMT while I added it to my wedding day essentials list.

Next on the list of products to sample were the face masks – the team were amazing in showing us their incredible range of masks and what skin type they were best suited for.

‘SECRET MESSAGES’

A WOMAN has revealed she was shocked when she discovered a ‘secret message’ in her Lush hair conditioner.

Brooke splurged on the store’s much-loved Super Milk spray after hearing about its long-lasting scent on social media.

But she made another discovery, learning that the stickers on Lush products – which say which employee made them – have messages underneath.

Admitting in a TikTok video that she must have been “living under a rock”, Brooke said she “never knew that” so wanted to see if it was true.

Removing the sticker from the Super Milk spray, she saw that it said “Does it have plant-based milk?”

Brooke then went looking for another Lush product to see what was under the sticker on that one.

She found a Shrek body wash, and under the sticker it said “there’s an arrow in your butt”.

According to Lush itself, the secret messages are for those who put the stickers on the pot or bottle – so they know “exactly where to put them”.

They sat down with us and asked us lots of questions about our skin types, how we feel IN our skin and how we WANT our skin to really feel.

Based on our answers, they gave us the best recommendation on the face mask that would give us the feeling we wanted most.

I was immediately drawn to the silky smooth Rosy Cheeks mask, but they explained that it was better for clearing redness-prone skin, and I was really looking for something to help with dry skin.

They recommended their new Skin Soothing Porridge mask to Sarahjane and me, whilst suggesting Aimee try their Catastrophe Cosmetic mask, which leaves skin soft, matte and clear.

We were then treated to amazing goody bags full of different samples to take home, as well as the body scrub we had previously done.

It was the perfect, indulgent end to the most fun, quirky and relaxing fun days I’ve ever had.

It was definitely harder than it looks - but Aimee mastered it all!
