A beauty artist has shared a little-known rule for maximizing the results of every product in your skincare routine.

Amish Patel revealed several unmissable tips for keeping your skin healthy and young.

He is an award-winning aesthetics practitioner in Intriga Cosmetic Clinic in Kent, England.

Speaking to The US Sun, he shared daily habits to adopt to improve your appearance.

MIRACLE MINUTES

Patel said it’s important not to overcomplicate skincare routines because it becomes increasingly difficult to stick to them.

He said skincare should be “simple but effective” as consistency is needed to see benefits.

“For daily grooming, you need a quality cleaner,” he said.

“I like one with gentle exfoliating properties for my more mature clients, as it encourages the shedding of skin cells, which naturally decreases with age and can result in a dull complexion.

“You also need a hydrating serum and high SPF.”

He said nighttime routines should include no more than four products.

A “rich moisturizer” should only be applied if your skin needs it.

“Layering skin care in the correct order will ensure products are absorbed into the skin and work more effectively,” he said.

“Always apply the serum before a moisturizer, the thicker the cream, the more barrier it can create on the skin.

“Leave at least two minutes between each application to allow the skin to absorb the product.

“Otherwise you are literally taking money out of your face.”

Patel said a professional can provide personalized advice on the best skincare products and treatments.

However, there is one salon treatment he would recommend.

“A facial chemical peel can be beneficial for reducing pigmentation and the appearance of fine lines,” he said.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Patel said a good skincare routine and year-round use of SPF 50 should be combined with a diet rich in superfoods.

“I would always advise including foods rich in vitamin C and amino acids like tomatoes, strawberries, citrus fruits, peppers and kiwi,” he said.

“Also reduce your intake of sugar and alcohol, which actively deplete collagen.

“Vitamin C is naturally present in the skin and is essential for maintaining skin elasticity.

Uninterrupted sleep is best to truly benefit your skin, allowing the body uninterrupted time to repair and regenerate.

“As we age, collagen products slow down and the skin loses its elasticity and begins to wrinkle and sag.

“Still, vitamin C, taken orally and applied topically, can help maintain the collagen you have and protect it from further damage.”

Patel said vitamin C promotes healing, but should not be used as a substitute for using SPF.

He said amino acids have antioxidant and calming properties, which help hydrate the skin.

“You can find them in meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, quinoa, buckwheat and soybeans,” he said.

DREAM SKIN

Patel said eight to nine hours is the “golden number” of quality sleep for skin rejuvenation.

“Uninterrupted sleep is best for really benefiting your skin, allowing the body uninterrupted time to repair and regenerate,” he said.

“Turn off your digital devices, avoid alcohol, and have a relaxing nighttime routine for your body and mind to give yourself the best chance of getting a good night’s sleep.”
