Collier is a top stylist and key opinion leader at a UK-based hair color brand Jerome Russell Bloira.

Speaking to The US Sun, he shared methods for improving hair health.

RELAXED STYLES

Collier said traction alopecia is a form of hair loss caused by repeated tension on locks with “tight” hairstyles such as ponytails, braids or buns.

“These styles can damage hair follicles and cause thinning or bald patches,” he said.

He revealed that low tension hairstyles are “crucial” for reducing hair loss.

“Instead, opt for loose styles like soft waves or a relaxed, messy bun,” he said.

He suggested Jerome Russell BStyled Thickening Mousse to add volume to hair.

“By giving the appearance of thicker hair, it helps camouflage thinner areas, boosting confidence while being gentle on the hair,” he said.

STRETCHING OILS

Collier said many of her clients have regained confidence in using the right products to stimulate hair growth.

“Look for products enriched with Marula oil,” he said.

“Marula oil is excellent for hydrating and protecting hair, thanks to its high content of antioxidants and essential fatty acids.”

He said oily serums can improve hair vitality and shine, “it’s like a drink for your hair, making it look healthier.”

He revealed that the oil is not the only home remedy to nourish hair health.

“Massaging the scalp with natural oils like coconut oil or castor oil can stimulate blood circulation, which promotes hair growth,” he said.

“Additionally, using natural hair masks made from ingredients like eggs, yogurt, and honey can provide deep conditioning and nourishment.”

NUTRITIVE FOODS

Collier said hair health is a “holistic journey,” so it’s important to combine the right products with a balanced diet.

“Products that deliver professional results while being gentle and nourishing are your best friends in this process,” he said.

“A balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, particularly biotin, vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids, can support hair growth.

“Foods like eggs, nuts, spinach and fish are excellent choices.

“Supplements can also be beneficial, biotin supplements are particularly popular for strengthening hair and promoting growth.”

He recommended speaking to a doctor or nutritionist before starting a new supplement regimen.

Collier said hair loss treatment results can vary, but it usually takes up to six months to see new growth.

“Embrace your natural hair, be patient, and consult professionals when necessary to figure out a regimen that works best for you,” he said.

“Remember that healthy hair is beautiful hair and taking steps to care for it is the best investment you can make in yourself.”
