On a Reddit publishuser Naselflee shared a side-by-side comparison of their appearance, nine years apart.

She broke down her budget-friendly anti-aging routine, which she says visibly improved her skin in just four months.

“I really started taking care of my skin because I was starting to age and look older than I am,” she explained.

The 39-year-old shared her surprise at how effective her regimen was.

“I was going through my old photos and came across this photo of me nine years ago,” the poster said.

“The difference in texture and skin is incredible.”

She revealed the beauty products she loves, starting with her morning routine.

The Redditor said she started her day by washing her face with manuka honey.

She added that she buys jars of fresh honey from her local farmer’s market.

“[I] just wet my face with warm water, then take a teaspoon and rub it on my face for about a minute,” she explained.

I’m 38 and I don’t have a single wrinkle around my eyes – all thanks to my layered skincare trick… and no, I’ve never had Botox

“So I leave it on while I shower and wash there.”

She explained that she began researching manuka honey after purchasing honey eye drops to help treat ocular rosacea.

“I started reading more about this honey and more studies are coming out that manuka honey is good for calming inflamed skin,” she said.

She added that the substance leaves her skin feeling soothed.

For her next step, she put in £1.49 Super Booster Hyaluronic Acid Serum from Aldi.

Finally, she used £8.82 Cicablast Baumé Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen before leaving home.

For her nighttime routine, the Redditor starts by washing her face with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Cleansing Gelavailable for £5.60 on Amazon.

She also applies a manuka honey face mask for 10 minutes before washing off and applying tretinoin.

Benefits of honey in skin care

A study published by Wiley Online Library examined the role of Manuka honey in anti-aging efforts.

Researchers found that topical application of 10% manuka oil “significantly reduced the average length, depth, and percentage area of wrinkles.”

It also helped to inhibit the loss of collagen fiber content and epidermal hyperplasia.

The study also found that manuka oil could “suppress UV-B-induced skin inflammation by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines.”

Experts concluded that “manuka oil actually has anti-photoaging activity.”

“I think the tretinoin helped a lot,” the poster said before adding that the makeup change also increased skin hydration.

“I think what really helped was switching to wet makeup as well,” she explained.

“I was using mattifying everything, and it really highlighted my lines and sucked the moisture out of my skin.”

She added that she didn’t realize how much these steps helped improve her skin until she found a photo of herself in her 30s.

Reddit users shared their thoughts on the transformation in the comments section.

“WOAH! I even showed it to my mom and she thought it [from nine years ago] I was older, you look so good and your skin looks so dewy,” said one reader.

“It definitely lifted your whole face in a way, it’s an 11 out of 10,” someone else wrote.

“Your skin definitely looks great and what a difference!” commented a third Redditor.
