WHEN Jo Malone London partnered with Tom Hardy earlier this year to promote the brand Cypress and vine colony, I didn’t think they would be able to overcome the collaboration.

But they just did, and the fragrance brand’s new muse comes from the most unlikely place: the fictional world (via Peru).

If you haven’t already guessed, the luxury perfume house’s latest partner in crime is none other than Paddington Bear.

And the perfume? Orange Marmaladein celebration of Paddington’s favorite sandwich filling.

You’d be forgiven for questioning why this would make a good scent, however, the tangy hint of orange is the perfect fresh summer scent if you want something that doesn’t resemble the sometimes cloying scent of sunscreen – plus the drying down after it’s been on the skin for a few hours, it’s spicy and warm – perfect for when the sun goes down.

At John Lewis, the collaboration is proving a smashing success, with searches for “Paddington Bear” on the site increasing by 128% since last year.

Furthermore, sales of Paddington Bear Collector Bear (as seen in Jo Malone London’s Orange Marmalade campaigns) have increased by 250% since the collaboration’s launch.

The perfume itself is also flying off the shelves, becoming the second most sought after beauty product in the world. the John Lewis website since it was released.

And it had a knock-on effect across the entire range, boosting sales of the brand fragrances by 42% across all levels.

If you want to get in on the fresh orange action, here are some other juicy fragrances ready for the picking.

THE BEST ZESTY PERFUMES

Zara Fleur D’Oranger EDP, £25.99 for 100ml

Created by perfumer Jo Malone herself (who is no longer affiliated with Jo Malone London and therefore did not work on the Paddington perfume), this interpretation of orange revolves around orange blossom, offering a comforting, mellow scent compared to pure orange scents. Bright, sparkling and more striking.

A subtle, ripe citrus scent suitable for daily use

Fugazzi Orange Crush EDP Fragrances, £70 for 50ml

Combined with musks and wood, the orange opening gives way to an opulent aroma reminiscent of the viral (and mega expensive) Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum.

Orange Crush is a showstopper, but subtle enough to wear every day. A true perfume for all occasions.

You won't find a quality citrus scent cheaper than this body mist

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Mist, £12 for 100ml

Since it’s a body mist, this spritz’s orange pop is much more subtle than most, but given the price, you can apply it generously to make up for what it lacks in strength.

It’s fresh and spicy, like the smell that comes from freshly peeled fruit.

If you want to try an affordable orange scent, you can’t go wrong!

The best stupid perfumes on the street

We all love a good perfume, but they can also be expensive. So why not try a high street jerk? Here are some of the best:

Phlur Tangerine Boy EDP, £99 for 100ml

If you’ve ever used the supermarket orange juice press, it smells exactly like oranges when they’re crushed in the machine.

It’s mouth-wateringly delicious and a spritz will instantly liven up a lazy summer afternoon.

The usage time may not be the best, but the brand gives a helping hand travel size version, which is perfect for top-ups throughout the day when you need a little pick-me-up.

This men's fragrance from Clinique is a great copy of the Jo Malone Marmalade fragrance

Clinique Happy for Men Cologne Spray, £68 for 100ml

Although it is technically a men’s fragrance, it is actually quite unisex and pairs very well with the Jo Malone London Orange Marmalade perfume.

It’s a little more complicated than most of the others on this list, with a trio of citrus notes (orange, lemon It is lemon) combined with aquatic notes that give it a salty flavor, anchored in musk and cedar to give it more depth and longevity – so it lasts all day.
