Editor Lelabear shared the anti-aging beauty tip in a post.

“My daughter met an older lady (she had to verify her ID) with the most beautiful skin and asked her what she did to keep it so fresh,” she said.

The kind stranger revealed her secret was sugar and plain yogurt.

Taking her skincare advice to heart, she explained that her daughter decided to try her at-home treatment.

“My daughter tried a sugar scrub followed by yogurt (ice cream, right?) and had great results,” she said.

“When she saw the lady again, she thanked her, and the lady was surprised that she had actually tried.”

The stranger explained that although his technique was relatively accessible and simple, most people did not believe it would work.

“[She] I said I had been answering this question for years and no one had taken it seriously before!” she said.

Yogurt offers numerous benefits for the skin, including moisture retention and increased protection against UV rays, according to Health line.

A yogurt mask not only helps retain moisture, but also 2011 study suggested that it can also potentially increase elasticity and brighten the skin.

‘This can really turn back the clock,’ raves 60-year-old Amazon shopper of ‘fountain of youth’ anti-aging cream

“As you age, your skin naturally loses collagen, a type of protein that promotes elasticity,” explained Healthline.

“Face masks can help restore elasticity while improving the overall appearance of your skin.”

Thanks to the natural probiotics in yogurt, those with sun scars or acne may notice a more even skin tone.

An occasional yogurt mask can even reverse age spots caused by sun damage, a 2015 study found.

“Research suggests that yogurt may help minimize the effects of ultraviolet (UV) rays in the first place,” said Healthline.

“It is believed that yogurt can help create a free radical-neutralizing barrier against the skin, which in turn reduces the risk of age spots and wrinkles induced by sun damage.”

The natural antibacterial properties of yogurt also help the skin fight acne, inflammation, infections and various skin conditions.

“According to the same 2015 research, probiotics reduce overall inflammation, which can, in turn, alleviate acne and help prevent future breakouts,” said Healthline.

“These include rosacea, psoriasis and eczema.”
