Dr. Colville is an aesthetic doctor, family doctor and founder of Avery Clinic in the United Kingdom.

Speaking to The US Sun, she shared effective anti-aging tips.

GRANDMA’S GLOW

Colville revealed that a habit she noticed growing up has become a staple in her skincare routine.

She is now “never” without her ice globes as they instantly transform the way her skin feels.

“These are little metal globes that you keep in the fridge and can apply to your skin at any time to soothe, reduce redness and swelling,” she said.

“My grandmother swore that washing her face with ice water kept her young.

“I’m not sure the research supports this, however, I always feel better after icing my face.”

According to Health lineWashing your face with cold water helps de-puff your face and reduce the appearance of pores.

The skin may also have a healthier glow as it increases blood flow to the area.

However, cold water is not as effective as warm water in cleansing your skin.

POWERFUL PRODUCTS

Colville said 80% of skin aging is preventable and SPF is your “best friend” when it comes to preventing damage caused by UV exposure.

“I always tell my patients, ‘Nothing looks better at age 60 than SPF at age 50,’” she said.

She revealed that inflammation and environmental damage also contribute to skin aging.

“A great start to protecting your skin from environmental damage is to use a high-purity hypochlorous solution like Clinisoothe+ Skin Purifier spray,” she said.

“Other vital ingredients to include are high-quality vitamin C to provide antioxidant protection and a retinoid to boost the skin’s renewal cycle.”

Colville said active ingredients should be incorporated into skin care routines when collagen levels begin to decline, around age 20.

It’s never too early to start using a broad-spectrum SPF daily.

She said retinoids should be prescribed by a skin specialist and revealed that her favorite medical products are in the Skinbetter Science line.

“Clinisoothe+ is also a brilliant skin cleanser,” she said.

“This has a variety of uses beyond its anti-aging benefits, so you can use it on anyone who needs to soothe, cleanse, and help their skin recover.”

Colville said skincare products should be applied from the thinnest to the thickest consistency for best results.

“Then, after cleansing, exfoliating, and using the hypochlorous solution, you would apply the serums and finish with a moisturizer if necessary,” she said.

Colville said it's never too early to start routinely using a broad-spectrum SPF daily.
