An easily made foundation mistake can emphasize fine lines and wrinkles on aging skin, according to a makeup artist.

Fairley is the founder and CEO of Laura Fairley Hair and makeupbased in Scotland.

In conversation with The US Sun, she shared tips for beautifying aging skin.

PERFECT FORMULAS

Fairley said the creams are “aging skin’s best friend,” as many women experience dryness due to hormonal changes.

“I love using lightweight liquid foundations, cream blush, bronzer and highlighter to give my skin a hydrating, luminous glow,” she said.

She advised against using products that draw attention to signs of aging.

“Try to avoid too much shine on your eyelids and cheekbones, as this will only emphasize fine lines,” she said.

“Instead, choose products with a matte finish, as they will give your makeup a more flawless, elegant finish.”

When it comes to lips, Frailey said she tends to avoid using liquid lip stains on her clients.

“They can form lines and are often quite dull, which can look aged,” she said.

“I prefer to opt for products with a more balsamic and moisturizing texture.”

FANTASTIC TECHNIQUES

Fairley said there is a common misconception that the heavier the makeup, the better it is at disguising the signs of aging.

However, you are actually using fewer products that give you a youthful appearance.

“For example, swapping a full-coverage foundation for a lightweight, more hydrating CC cream will provide coverage without the product settling into fine lines and wrinkles,” she said.

Rodial’s Lowlighter, which costs $35 on the brand’s website, and iT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, which costs $47, are among her makeup staples.

She also routinely uses Eborian’s CC Red Correct, which costs $46.

She revealed that focusing on improving the area around the eyes can make a dramatic difference.

“Some of my most shared and simple tips for my mature clients to disguise the signs of aging are to show them how to properly hide dark circles before using a brightening concealer,” she said.

“These two steps immediately give you a more youthful appearance.”

Fairley said she also focuses on achieving a balanced complexion for a youthful glow.

“Use the right products to help reduce redness in the cheeks and nose due to conditions like rosacea,” she said.

“Light coats using the right products are better than a thick coat of the wrong product.”
