BLAKE Lively has beauty fans questioning their hair care routines after admitting this week that she never uses hair conditioner – and insisting most stars don’t.

The actress claims she has a better system for maintaining her hair, and while a professional stylist tells The US Sun there are benefits, she’s not sure everyone should throw out the conditioner.

STAR YARN

The Gossip Girl actress, whose strands have become a star in her own right, is preparing to launch her own hair care line.

And there’s one thing you won’t find in her new brand called Blake’s Brown — conditioner.

“I don’t know anyone who uses conditioner in my industry,” she said Vogue.

“It’s not that people in the entertainment industry are gifted with better hair,” she added.

“We are using a different hair system than the process promoted on the mass market.”

With eight products in total, its new line includes two shampoo and mask sets – the Fundamental Nourishing Shampoo and Mask and the Fundamental Strengthening Shampoo and Mask.

There is also a glam mousse in the line that mainly features notes of vanilla and sandalwood.

Instead of buying a standard shampoo and conditioner pair, your two sets of shampoo and hair masks do the trick.

One set is aimed at those who want stronger strands and the other is for hair that needs hydration, as “your hair needs two things, strength and moisture”, Lively also told the outlet.

To get Blake’s bouncy locks, she shared how you simply wash your hair once or twice, depending on how much product you have in your hair.

I let my hair grow down to my waist – I had to stop using my $6 oil because it got too long and don’t listen to the stylist myth

Then, you apply the mask and let it act for at least half a minute before rinsing it off.

You can then swap the set for the other shampoo and mask pair the next time you wash your hair.

When it comes to Blake’s routine, conditioner has officially been ditched.

METHOD TO YOUR MADNESS TOGETHER

Jennifer Korab in Renaissance Salon and Spa believes Blake’s method is exactly what her mane needs.

“Blake Lively’s hair care system offers countless benefits, combining your personal insights and preferences to keep your hair shiny and healthy,” Korab told The US Sun.

“By emphasizing natural, high-quality ingredients, her routine reduces the risk of damage from harsh chemicals and promotes overall hair health,” she continued.

She is mainly a fan of the products for their moisturizing properties that “nourish the hair, combating dryness and fragility, while increasing shine and softness”.

Korab also appreciates the scalp protection system, which she says uses treatments that “soothe” and “balance” the scalp, which can help with hair growth and reduce dandruff.

It can provide especially strengthening and repairing results for those experiencing hair loss due to over-coloring or styling.

“Blake’s approach ensures that hair remains strong and resilient,” she said.

“By using specific techniques and products, your routine helps you achieve voluminous, textured hair that looks naturally full and vibrant,” she continued.

“This encourages individuals to adapt their routines based on their specific hair type and needs.”

HOLLYWOOD HAIR

While Lively’s routine can liven up her locks, Korab comments on whether her non-conditioning methods are the norm for Hollywood hair.

“I don’t think it’s a widespread practice among Hollywood celebrities or wealthy individuals,” she said.

“The benefits of conditioner in maintaining beautiful, healthy hair make it a staple in most hair care routines,” she added.

Still, when it comes to Blake, the A-lister’s signature strands offer some advantages over traditional conditioners, according to Korab.

“The products focus on high-quality natural ingredients, reducing the risk of damage from harsh chemicals found in many traditional conditioners,” she said.

“This emphasis on natural ingredients also helps maintain the integrity and health of hair,” he added.

“The line includes a variety of treatments that provide deep hydration and nourishment, effectively addressing specific hair needs that a single conditioner may not fully cover.”

In addition to taming frizz, masks can also help revive dry, brittle hair so you can get Blake's bouncy waves, too.

This ensures that your hair can stay healthy due to the moisture and nutrients it receives.

“Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, and these products help maintain scalp health better than traditional conditioners, which often ignore this aspect,” she said.

“The line offers robust solutions for repairing and preventing damage, helping to maintain hair strength and resilience,” she continued.

“Traditional conditioners may not provide the same level of targeted repair and protection that Blake Brown products can.”

NOT FOR EVERYONE

If you’re wondering whether you should stop spending on conditioner, too, she says it all comes down to everyone’s individual hair goals.

“Both conditioners and masks play important roles in hair care, but they serve different purposes,” she said.

“Conditioners are designed for daily use, providing immediate hydration, detangling and smoothing hair to maintain daily manageability,” she continued.

Light hydration helps keep your mane looking soft and shiny without weighing it down.

Meanwhile, masks offer more intensive benefits that, she says, “provide deep conditioning, nourishment and repair, addressing specific issues like dryness, damage and frizz.”

“Masks are typically used less frequently, such as once a week, and require a longer application time to obtain their full benefits,” she said.
