Amanda Jenner, a global expert on potty training and young children, shared her urgent warning online, leaving many speechless.

The TV and Radio Expert demonstrated a simple swimsuit test on social media, revealing why parents shouldn’t buy their children blue swimsuits.

The author shared her clip with the caption ‘Absolutely shocking. Sharing this in case any parents don’t know!

She continued: ‘Today I did a test in a light blue swimsuit in a pool ground and couldn’t believe how camouflaged it was.

‘Visibility is very important when observing your child in the pool or any other body of water.

‘Think about the color of the swimsuit when buying… this knowledge can really save a bit of life’.

As Amanda pushed a blue swimsuit to the bottom of a pool, where it was almost impossible to see, she explained: “The right color swimsuit can save a life.

“I did this test today to show how invisible the color blue is underwater, which would make it much more difficult to detect a child in an emergency.”

Amanda then did the same thing but in orange and lime green swimwear.

Visibility became much more vibrant, as she added: “See how difficult it is to spot the swimsuit compared to the bright colors, especially with the splashes in the water.

Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington OBE wants to save lives by banning children’s swimwear sold in colors that are invisible underwater

“This could really save a life.

“Please think before you buy this summer.”

Tips for keeping children safe in the water

IF you’re going on vacation this year and want to keep your kids safe when they’re in the water, here are some important things to keep in mind.

  1. Constant Supervision:
    • Always keep an eye on children when they are in or near water.
    • Avoid distractions like phones or books.
  2. Learn CPR:
    • Take a CPR course to be prepared for emergencies.
    • Make sure any caregivers or babysitters also know CPR.
  3. Swimming classes:
    • Enroll children in age-appropriate swimming lessons.
    • Encourage them to practice regularly to develop confidence and skills.
  4. Use life jackets:
    • Make sure children wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when boating or near open bodies of water.
    • Don’t rely solely on inflatable toys or floaties for safety.
  5. Establish water rules:
    • Establish and enforce rules such as not running near the pool, not diving in shallow water and swimming only with adult supervision.
  6. Safe Swimming Pools:
    • Install barriers around pools, such as fences with self-locking gates.
    • Use pool covers and alarms to provide additional layers of security.
  7. Educate about the dangers of water:
    • Teach children about the dangers of drains and suction outlets in swimming pools and hot tubs.
    • Explain the hazards of natural bodies of water, such as currents, tides, and underwater obstacles.
  8. Stay hydrated and protected from the sun:
    • Make sure children drink plenty of water and take breaks to avoid dehydration.
    • Apply waterproof sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
  9. Buddy system:
    • Encourage the buddy system, where children swim in pairs or groups, ensuring they look out for each other.
  10. Check water depth and conditions:
    • Check the depth of the water and check for hazards before allowing children in.
    • Be aware of weather conditions and avoid swimming during storms or strong currents.

By following these tips, you can significantly increase children’s safety in and around the water, ensuring they have a fun and safe experience.

Another added: “OMG this is so important.”

A third commented: “100% that, I only buy orange or neon yellow swimsuits for the little ones.”

While someone else admitted: “Glad I bought my son a bright red one.”

Meanwhile, one parent said: “I don’t buy blue anymore and I see how many people sell blue!! Light blue too!”
