But being on holiday for so long would stretch any budget, with Ellena trying out some money-saving tricks to keep costs down.

She decided to share one of the tricks in a video on his TikTok page, but he couldn’t have predicted the response he would receive.

In the clip, she was seen buttering bread and stuffing it with cheese, turning it into sandwiches.

“Mommy hacks if she’s staying in a hotel with kids,” she wrote over the top.

“My girls don’t eat breakfast, it’s too early for them, so… I bring a breakfast container to make sandwiches for the day.”

She then placed the sandwiches in the container and added some cucumber slices and extra pieces of cheese.

“Ordered for lunch!” she added, although she stressed that the sandwiches should not be left on the heat for too long as the cheese will melt.

People quickly weighed in on the video in the comments, saying, “The driest sandwiches ever – no filling on the edges or corners.

“Poor children!

“Why can’t you make a decent sandwich?”

“This is so cheeky,” said another.

“I could never do it,” commented a third.

As someone said, “I’m so grateful I can buy things.”

To which Ellena replied: “We have been on vacation for 5 weeks!

“As you know, children eat every 2 minutes!”

But the rude comments continued, prompting Ellena to issue another response in a separate video.

Where can kids eat for free this summer?

Summer holidays are here, but entertaining the kids doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Here we reveal where you can get free and cheap meals for your little ones during the ‘endless’ summer holidays.

ASDA COFFEE: Pop into an Asda cafe to feed the kids after their weekly shop.

Under 16s receive a hot or cold meal for £1 at any time of the day.

Little ones are covered too.

Kids under 18 months get a free bag of Ella’s baby food with any purchase.

BEEF MEAT: This family-friendly pub chain makes mornings a breeze.

Two children under 16 eat free with the purchase of an adult breakfast for £10.99.

It is available from 6:30am to 10:30am midweek and 7am to 11am on weekends.

BEAUTIFUL ITALY: Book a table and order an adult meal at the Italian restaurant for children aged two to 11 to get three courses and a drink for £1.

Offer valid between 4pm and 6pm from Sunday to Wednesday.

On Thursdays, kids eat free all day when an adult meal is ordered from the a la carte menu.

DUNELM: Make shopping for household items a fun day.

Dunelm’s Pausa Cafes are offering free kids’ meals for every £4 spent on food or drink.

Available all day, every day.

ACCOUNTS: Dine at a Bill’s restaurant to get up to two free kids’ meals (normally £6.95 each) with one adult meal.

Valid only on weekdays until August 30th.

IKEA: Make a food day at the Swedish store.

Every day except Fridays, stop by their famous cafe from 11am to pick up a kid’s pasta or mac and cheese dish for 95 cents.

Other mini meals are available for £1.50.

EXPRESS PIZZA: Children ten and under can receive a free three-course Piccolo meal, including dumplings, pizza or pasta and dessert, with every adult meal purchased.

The offer runs every day until August 11th.

TESCO: Head to the supermarket cafe Monday to Friday until August 30 to receive free kids’ meals when an adult purchases any item from the cafe.

You must have a Clubcard to redeem the offer.

THE RANGE: Children under 16 get one free meal per adult purchased at The Range cafes.

Options include sandwiches, cooked-to-order breakfast and fish and chips.

All children’s meals include a piece of fruit and a drink.

“Wow, guys!” she began.

“I was slaughtered for taking a container for breakfast on vacation.

“The comments were insane – just because I take a breakfast container and fill it with sandwiches and other little things for my kids in the morning.”

Ellena added that the trick she shared was to take the container for breakfast – and not make the sandwiches.

“I’ve been slaughtered for the way I put cheese on bread and people can call me names and talk about me because I’m making my kids a sandwich,” she raged.

“‘Poor children, poor children’ – they’ve been on holiday here for five weeks!”

Taking aim at the trolls, she continued: “It’s crazy how you think you can bring us down moms.

“You don’t know how we are parents, so don’t even go on my TikTok and try to comment if you don’t have anything nice to say – because it’s really not cool to put people down.”

She concluded by turning the camera around to share the incredible view from her hotel room.

And people in the comments of that video quickly offered assurances to Ellena, with one writing: “I thought it was a brilliant idea!”

“Don’t mind, darling – all mothers with young children do the same,” insisted another.

“Ignore these sad people, darling, and enjoy your vacation,” urged a third.

As someone insisted, the trolls were probably just “jealous.”
