A mother of six who lives in a two-bed council flat has spoken out about her sleeping plans.
The Wisdom family matriarch was forced to get creative in housing herself and all her children at her Leeds residence.

So she used her DIY skills to make a ‘Murphy bed’ – which folds down to look like a cupboard.
On a video On her TikTok page, she showed what her morning routine looks like, writing above: “POV: YOU HAVE 6 KIDS IN A 2 BEDROOM COUNCIL HOUSE.”
The clip showed her taking the duvet and pillows off the bed and placing them in a closet above her.
She then removed the sheet and electric blanket, before pushing the entire bed – mattress included – upstairs and back into the closet.
The final steps were to remove the two piles of wood that supported the bed.
And after doing that, she was able to put the couch back in place.
What is a council house exchange?
Council home exchange, also known as mutual exchange, is a scheme for people living in a council or housing association property who want to exchange their home with another tenant.
People often trade up to get a bigger or smaller house or to move to a different area.
When you mutually exchange your home, you are exchanging tenancies with someone else.
Anyone with a fully insured or fixed-term social housing tenancy in their name and a transparent income account can do a mutual exchange.
You cannot change your home if:
- has an introductory lease
- has a probationary lease
- are in temporary accommodation
At this point, you wouldn’t even know the bed was there, as the outside of it blended in with the rest of the room.
The mother also revealed that the two bedrooms of the apartment were occupied by her children – the three oldest in one and the three youngest in the other.
People were quick to weigh in on her situation in the comments section, with one writing: “I don’t understand why they won’t give her a bigger house!”
“She said her advice is a little strange and considers kids under a certain age to be half a person, so I don’t think they consider her overcrowded (although she definitely is),” added another.
“Wow, I have a son in bed A 3 and it seems overcrowded!” a third commented.
“Fair play to you!”
“You’re amazing for what you’ve accomplished, but I have to say, the thought of taking out that bed and putting it back in every morning is exhausting!” someone else admitted.
“Have you ever thought, not tonight… I’m sleeping on the couch!” another asked.
With her mother insisting that she “never” had that thought.
However, not everyone praised the comments, with some trolls insisting she shouldn’t have had so many children.
“I don’t understand why anyone would have 6 kids if they can’t accommodate them,” one wrote.
“I don’t understand why she won’t stop having kids haha,” another fumed.
“I shouldn’t have had so many kids if I couldn’t afford a bigger house for them,” said a third.
“I don’t understand why people keep having kids they can’t afford,” another person agreed.
But another responded, writing: “Well you are quick to judge.
“Didn’t anyone ever teach you not to judge a book by its cover?”
