A WOMAN has bravely opened up about her painful struggle to become a mother and how her partner ended up destroying the dream.

The 47-year-old woman reportedly met her husband when she was a university student, and the pair decided to try and have a child just over a decade ago.

Although there were risks, as women over 35 are more likely to suffer complications such as high blood pressure, miscarriage and stillbirth, the couple were doing everything they could to become parents.

As reported by MailOnlinethey reportedly spent three years planning their social and professional lives around his wife’s “fertile window” every month.

However, despite their best efforts, the couple were unable to get pregnant and, to make matters even more frustrating, doctors are believed to have informed the couple that their chances of getting pregnant were less than five percent.

Even if they tried IVF using the woman’s eggs, that number wouldn’t be much higher, coming in at just nine percent, she added in the heartbreaking post.

After being unable to access IVF on the NHS and discovering that using an egg donor would increase her chances of having a child, the woman claimed she had found a clinic abroad in Ukraine.

The clinic, she claimed, “had no waiting lists for eggs” and could ensure the donor remained anonymous.

In total, with flights and accommodation included, the costs came to £4,000.

“Two weeks later I took a test and, wonderfully, it was positive. I was over the moon,” said the woman.

“But when I told [my husband] he seemed strangely withdrawn. I put it down to him working long hours and I remained excited, planning who to tell first.”

However, just eight weeks later, the partner reportedly dropped a major bombshell, saying he wasn’t sure he could “bond” with a baby who wasn’t biologically the same.

I was £50,000 in debt after my wife had nine rounds of IVF… so I did something drastic

Then another bombshell: Keep the baby and he’ll dump her.

Although the decision was not easy and she had wanted to be a mother for a long time, she also knew that she “didn’t want to live” the rest of her life “without him”.

“I knew perfectly well that we would finish if I continued. The prospect of raising a child alone seemed bleak.

There was also another dreaded thought: What if he left her for someone else and had children with another woman?

This, she bravely opened, felt like a gun was being pointed right next to her head.

A week later, she terminated the pregnancy without her partner by her side, before taking a week off to see her mother in Spain.

After returning, the duo, who are still together, requested the destruction of the remaining stored embryos.

He is one of the good guys in life

While the post may have portrayed her husband as “a devil,” the woman explained how that couldn’t be further from the truth, describing him as “a kind and generous husband in many ways.”

”He is one of the good guys in life; he makes me laugh, whatever time he does on the last walk with the dog, he gets along better with my dad than I do.

The woman, who added that he simply “couldn’t accept being a father this way,” has yet to become pregnant naturally and said “the pain and regret” still resurface from time to time.
