THEY decided to try and defy the odds by having a child together – despite their 37-year age gap.
And now it looks like her dreams of starting her own family are on their way to becoming a reality.
On a video on TikTok, Cheryl, 63, explained that they found out about a week ago that their surrogate was pregnant after she shared her positive pregnancy test.
Quran, 26, and Cheryl were then able to go to the doctor with their surrogate, where they saw their baby for the first time and even heard his heartbeat.
“We’re so excited, guys,” said Cheryl, as she held up the positive test while her husband, Quran, smiled from ear to ear as he showed off the scan images.
“I can’t wait,” he gushed.
“I am so happy. I’m going to be a father!
“We finally have a family.”
“It’s finally happening – we’re starting our family!”
People were quick to comment on the video, with many expressing their shock that the two actually had a child together.
“How is this possible?” one wrote.
“I CANNOT BELIEVE IT,” added another.
“No way!” a third commented, with crying emojis.
“I don’t know what to say except I hope everything works out,” another person added.
But others were more excited about the couple’s news.
“My God, Justin and Hailey Bieber, what now about you!?” one exclaimed.
“I’m so happy, I can’t wait to see your journey!”
“Congratulations!” another added.
“I’m really happy for you guys and don’t listen to the haters, they’re just jealous.”
The oldest mothers in the world
WHILE older women often turn to adoption or surrogacy to have children, there are some who have defied the odds to have children later in life. Here are some of the oldest mothers in the world:
Erramatti Mangama
The then 74-year-old achieved the record as the world’s oldest mother by giving birth to twin daughters in India – also making her the oldest mother of twins.
She conceived through in vitro fertilization and gave birth via cesarean section on September 5, 2019.
Daljinder Kaur
After two years of IVF treatments, Daljinder gave birth to a boy – her first child – in 2016, aged 72.
Dr Anurag Bishnoi, who administered fertility treatments to Daljinder, was criticized by her colleagues for treating someone her age.
Rajo Devi Lohan
Rajo was 70 years old when she gave birth to her daughter Naveen in November 2008.
At the time, she was the world’s oldest first-time mother and therefore made headlines around the world.
Omkari Panwar
It was on June 27, 2008 when Omkari gave birth to twins – brothers of her and husband Charan Singh Panwar’s two adult daughters.
Desperate to have a child, Omkari underwent IVF treatment, in which her husband had to mortgage his land, spend his life savings, take out a credit card loan and sell his buffaloes to pay for it.
Margaret Adenuga
Margaret was 68 when she had twins in April 2020 after three failed IVF attempts.
Even though she was told about the risks of getting pregnant at her age, she went ahead anyway and was able to carry her twins to term without any problems.
“I don’t understand the amount of hate,” said a third.
“They are happy. Who cares how old she is. Let them live!”
“Oh my god, CONGRATULATIONS,” someone shouted.
“OMG congratulations to you two who are praying for a safe pregnancy and birth,” added another.
“I can’t wait to see your beautiful little one!”
Due to Cheryl’s age, she is unable to carry her own child, so the pair tried to find a surrogate to have their child.
The surrogate uses the intended mother’s eggs and fertilizes them with the prospective father’s sperm.
But others questioned how Cheryl and the Quran would use a surrogate if she had no eggs.
The average age to go through menopause in the US, where the Quran and Cheryl are based, is 52 years old.
The surrogacy journey was not smooth either.
They were devastated when their ‘perfect candidate’ – who they had spent £7,000 on trying to make their pregnancy dream a reality – withdrew from the process.
But despite their heartbreak, they insisted they were not willing to give in and adopt – despite people suggesting they should.
