Unlike regular diapers, swim-proof diapers do not absorb liquids and can be used while your child is playing in the water – or learning to swim.

Swim diapers help contain solids and are great if your little one poops while swimming – while regular diapers are designed to be absorbent to keep your baby dry when they pee.

This means that when submerged in water, a regular diaper will absorb water immediately – and not only will it not help, but the heavy diaper will also weigh your baby down and eventually fall off, say experts at The contorted one explained.

The market is full of different swim diapers – or so-called swim pants – and now the German retailer has also launched its version.

Aldi’s Mamia Ultra Fit swim pants is designed for children weighing between 12kg and 18kg and comes in a pack of 12.

The summer essential, which retails for £3.29, is “designed with a special absorbent material that doesn’t swell like a nappy”.

According to Aldi, soft material swim bottoms will ensure your baby “stays comfortable and protected during water play” – and the bargain has already become a huge hit with parents.

An Aldi shopper, Chelsea Yeates, took to Facebook to share the discovery on the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group in the UK.

”Aldi now uses swimming diapers! It’s the first time I’ve seen them,” she wrote in the caption. the post.

Uploaded to the popular page less than 24 hours ago, Chelsea’s post has already racked up more than 800 likes and 730 comments as people rushed to inform their friends and family.

A store customer had no luck finding the swimming essential at her local branch.

“Unfortunately, not at your local Aldi,” groaned the shopper.

Another tagged their next one, writing, “We need to get some for the holidays.”

Someone was wondering if there were more size options that would fit smaller babies as well.

”Does anyone know if it’s just 5-6 or if they go 3-4?

”I only saw them once in my store and I was only 5-6 years old.

“This is a good price for swimmers”, considered a colleague in the group.

Does my child need a diaper for swimming?

Swimming is one of the most popular fun activities for babies and toddlers – and not to mention, it also teaches them an essential skill.

But while investing in a swim diaper may seem like a waste of money to some parents, many public pools may actually reject it if your baby isn’t wearing swim-proof diapers.

As noted by the experts at Belle & Beau Little, Even if your children are potty trained, it may be best to keep them in swim diapers for a while to avoid accidents.

Public swimming pools require babies and children to wear swim diapers due to the following purpose:

  • Avoid poop in the water
  • Decrease the spread of fecal bacterial contamination
  • Prevent the spread of residual bacteria like E.coli.
  • Prevent individuals from contracting these bacteria in and around the pool.

If you don’t have an Aldi store nearby, a bargain hunter revealed that rival ASDA was also offering swim bottoms – and their product costs less too.

“Cheapest at ASDA for £1 less,” said the shopper, sharing a screenshot of Little Angels swim pants by ASDA.

The £3 bargain contains 11 ”super soft and safe” ”for confidence in the water” swim diapers.

Dermatologically tested, the essential item for swimming is ”easy to put on and take off”, thanks to its ”easy-to-tear side seams”.
