A WOMAN has left people completely divided after revealing a recent dispute she had with her neighbour.
Renee Barendregt, a single mother of three from Australia, explained that she and her neighbor got into an argument after her five-year-old son accidentally kicked a ball into the neighbor’s fence.
But social media users were left with mixed emotions about Renee’s situation – while many were on her “side”, others explained that they emphasized it with their neighbor.
Posting online, Renee shared a clip with the caption ‘I’m so sorry. Are you really okay? I love animals, don’t get me wrong, but if my son can’t kick the ball outside, we have some problems.
She then said: “I’m shaking and furious – my neighbor shouted at me from the other side of the fence, I was playing football with my son, my five-year-old, and we were kicking at the goals and God forbid, it hit the fence a few times.
“She yelled at my kids – she said ‘you’re scaring my animals’, and I said ‘take your animals inside, I’m playing with my five-year-old with a ball that accidentally hit your fence, that’s actually my fence too’.”
Renée explained that the woman next Door then told her to teach her children ‘respect’, as she sarcastically responded: “Yes, my five-year-old is really trying to be mischievous by kicking the ball into the goal and accidentally hitting your fence.”
In response to her angry neighbor, Renee added: “I won’t stop playing ball with my son and my son won’t stop kicking the ball and if it accidentally hits your fence, go over it.”
To end the clip, clearly furious with the situation, Renee recorded herself intentionally kicking a ball into the fence, concluding: “And lastly, here’s one more.”
The TikTok clip, posted just four days ago under the username @reneebarendregtIt clearly left many speechless as it quickly racked up an impressive 691,600 views, leaving many utterly divided.
One person said: “I’m with your neighbor on this issue, take your kids to the park.”
I’m with the neighbor, this noise would be unbearable

Another added: “Nah, I’m with your neighbor on this one. Nothing worse than that noise on the wall.”
A third commented: “No, I’m with the neighbor, that noise would be unbearable.”
While someone else wrote: “I feel bad for your neighbor. Nothing is more disturbing than a ball hitting the fence. Is the goal close to your house?”
Yet at the same time, many others could identify with Renee.
How to deal with neighboring lines
MANY of us live in harmony with the people next door, but some face hellish daily battles with our neighbors.
However, it is not always clear what measures to take.
The five most common rows of neighbors were reduced to loud noise, boundary issues, parking spaces, poorly maintained grounds, and maintenance of common areas.
Mark Montaldo of the leading civil law firm CEL Lawyers said: “Good neighbors may be worth their weight in gold, but we can often fight over minor and major issues that ruin our domestic happiness.
“Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are at odds with their neighbors and this can make life a little more difficult.
“Some of the most common disputes include parking spaces, excessive noise, poorly maintained gardens and arguments over where your land ends and theirs begins.
“Sometimes these disputes can be resolved over a friendly cup of tea, but in other cases they can be so serious that they provoke a legal battle.
“It’s important to know your rights in cases where all is not well between you and your neighbors, as this can save you some hassle and a lot of money.”
Noisy neighbors can receive a fixed penalty notice of £110 and £500 if the offender is a business.
This can be increased to £1,000 for households and unlimited fines for businesses if not paid on time.
Overgrown hedges, new walls or even a shed can cause disputes over where one neighbor’s land ends and another’s begins.
You may also be entitled to claim compensation to cover the loss of enjoyment of your property.
In areas with limited parking spaces, how neighbors leave their cars parked can be a big problem.
Road and traffic legislation in the Highway Code states that you must not park in a resident’s space if you do not have permission, and you cannot block someone’s driveway.
In many apartment blocks there are common areas, but it can be a disaster for residents if others do not contribute to the maintenance of these spaces.
If your neighbors are leaving rubbish in common areas, it is advisable that you speak to them first in the hope that they will agree to remove the rubbish amicably.
However, if your neighbors refuse, you should report the problem to the local council, who will investigate and determine whether the problem constitutes a legal nuisance.
In this case, the council will notify those responsible for the nuisance.
If someone fails to comply with an abatement notice, they could be prosecuted and/or fined.
One user wrote: “Good for you! Seriously, what a world we live in that we can’t do that anymore, what’s next they have to be quiet out there too.”

A second agreed: “Let the kids play! Very good, mom.
A third shouted: “My God, how brave of your neighbor!”
While someone else smiled: “I’m on your side, darling.”
