A WOMAN who never washed her two-year-old daughter’s hair has been branded “disgusting” by trolls.
Echika sparked controversy with a video she posted on TikTok, explaining that she only rinsed her daughter’s hair with water.
Sharing a look at her daughter’s blonde tresses, Echika wrote on main: “I never washed her hair (two years)”.
In the caption, she explained her top tips, revealing that she occasionally uses argan oil in her hair.
She also uses a hair mask once a week or fortnight.
“Let your child enjoy long, luscious tangle-free hair,” Echika added.
“PS. IT NEVER GETS GREASY!”
However, her post dramatically divided opinion on TikTok, with one person writing: “This is disgusting!”
“No, it’s not,” Echika replied.
“I was a hair specialist at a large hair company for a few years.
“Rinse everything with water and your own natural oils do the rest of the work.”
“That’s so weird…water doesn’t remove bacteria and what else do you think shampoo is for?” another asked.
“To have fun?..”
“Commercial. It’s made to make money,” Echika said.
“And as people are used to, your hair will always be greasy, so you will use it again.”
“It feels oily, honestly..” a third insisted.
As someone wrote: “Eww!”
But others agreed more with the concept.
“To be fair, I wish I could just use water to wash my hair, it would save so much money,” one wrote.
The 4 phases of the hair growth cycle

Hair experts at Philip Kingsley have shared the four stages of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen.
Anagen Phase: Also known as the ‘Growth Phase’ or ‘Active Phase’, this is when the hair root cells divide more quickly, forming more new hair.
During the anagen phase, hair grows about half an inch per month [about six inches a year]and faster in summer than in winter.
This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.
Catagen Phase: After the Anagen Phase, your hair cycle enters a short transition phase known as the Catagen Phase, which signals the end of active hair growth and cuts off individual strands from the blood supply and cells that produce new hair.
Approximately three percent of all hair is in this stage at any given time and it lasts for about 10 days.
Telogen Phase: The third stage of the natural hair growth cycle is the Telogen Phase, a resting period in which strands remain in the follicles but are not actively growing.
An estimated 10 to 15 percent of your hair is in the telogen phase at any given time.
The Telogen Phase lasts about three months or 100 days.
Exogenous Phase: The final phase of the Hair Growth Cycle, when individual hairs are released from the follicles and fall out.
Now the whole process starts again.
“Yes, a big money saver!” Echika said.
“You can train him, but probably to wash him once a week/two weeks at most, I think.
“I got this before I shaved my hair.”
“My girl’s hair gets really tangled from friction at night. How can I avoid this without conditioning?” someone asked.
With Echika responding: “A silk pillowcase and a silk bonnet can help.
“Also braiding your hair before bed works really well, and be sure to dry it after washing or wetting your hair.”
“My daughter always leaves food in her hair,” said another.
“I have to use soap.”
“They put food in their hair, but just wash it with water, you can add a hair mask and some oil to make it smell good,” Echika replied.
“Shampoo just kills all the good oils.”
“Yes, I stopped washing my daughter’s hair and it started growing really fast!!!” someone wrote.
“Thank God everything is fine,” added another.
“I have a son who just turned 4 and I wash his hair with shampoo once a month,” said another person.
“I just wash it with water and his dark hair is very shiny.”
