The protective mother said: “I have something to say about baby names.

“Whenever I see people commenting saying, ‘You have to be sure suits when they’re adults, like they won’t be cute forever,’ I disagree. “

The mother, who has used the name Missy all her life, said she has been constantly bullied because of the name, with people saying it sounded rude.

“I’ve been told that my name so often sounds like a stripper’s name, a dog’s name, whatever you call it under the sun, and it’s never bothered me,” she continued.

And the mother revealed she would instill the same mentality in her daughter, who she calls Coco.

She added that she would not accept negative opinions from adults online.

Missy ended the video by saying, “Moral of the story, give your kid the name that feels right because he’s going to rock it.

“It’s their name.”

She added that Missy wasn’t her legal name, but she had been using it for years and found her real name very boring.

The clip went viral on his TikTok account @missyholiday and people quickly took to the comments in defense of the mother.

One person wrote: “Same here! The amount of times I’ve gotten comments about my daughter’s name “Darlah,” apparently it’s not feminine at all.”

Another commented: “That’s exactly what I say!! The name becomes theirs, so in 10, 20 years it’s no big deal!

“It’s crazy how people actually feel like they need to tell you what they think about a name!

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I felt so much hate when I named my first child (Oxley). I don’t know why people think they have the right to judge and comment on other people’s names.”

“I, with the name “Raven”, have received comments my whole life and I still love it,” said a fifth.

Are unique baby names worth it?

The Fabulous deputy editor reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name growing up.

When I was a kid, all I wanted was one of those personalized keychains with my name on it.

But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not very good for a girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be really annoying.

Although I’ve come into contact with a few Josies over the past year – there seem to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or poorly written.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not as attached to Griffiths as I always said’ hi, it’s Josie’ when calling a friend.

I think it’s good to be unique and I will definitely try to replicate that when naming my own children.

It’s the rude names you have to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist, I’ll definitely avoid them.

Someone else added: “What’s your legal name? If you don’t mind sharing.”

Missy responded, “Melissa-Jane, it doesn’t suit me.”
