WHEN it comes to your child, it’s understandable that you want nothing but the best.

While you might be tempted to jump on the latest trends, a nanny from some of the world’s richest families has revealed which items you won’t want.

Childcare specialist Alexandra revealed which items she refuses to buy

Having trained alongside real nannies at Norland, Alexandra Tealeaf knows a thing or two about what’s best for babies.

In addition to these nannies undergoing intense training, the influencer now has her own family, so she has a lot of experience with baby products.

While you might think she would encourage her followers to splurge on their latest purchases, the mother-of-one claims there are at least six items she would never own after training at Norland.

CRADLE BUMPERS

If you’re revamping your nursery or scrolling through Pinterest, you’ve probably seen these brightly colored blocks.

Made from padded foam and soft cotton, crib bumpers are meant to protect little ones from bumps and bruises while they sleep.

While they may look aesthetic online, Alexandra says they are completely unnecessary and potentially dangerous as well.

She told her followers: “No way. They are a choking hazard, not necessarily as cute as they look, please don’t buy these.”

DOONA CONVERTIBLE CHAIR SEAT/TROLLEY

Traveling with a baby can be stressful, so you might be tempted to buy a Doona convertible car seat and stroller.

If you’re not put off by the price, you might also want to rethink buying this baby after hearing what this Norland nanny has to say.

While you may be tempted to opt for the most popular brands, the expert encouraged parents to do their research before purchasing.

“They’re not worth the money or the risk, there are so many other options available on the market right now,” she explained, advising her followers to purchase car seats that attach to the base of the stroller.

WINDI

Having young children with wind down is never fun, with parents desperately trying every possible cure.

You may have even seen devices like the Windi, which are small hollow tubes designed to be inserted into your baby’s rectum to relieve symptoms.

Needless to say, the influencer was not impressed with these gadgets and told her followers: “Very invasive. Babies who burp effectively will not need this contraption to be used on them.”

PUSH TRIKE

Carrying your child around can be tiring, so a tricycle might seem like a good way for them to still enjoy the scenery.

However, Alexandra revealed that she often sees them being used when the little ones are very young – with their parents doing most of the exercise for them.

While there is no harm in this, the nanny has chosen to use a balance bike with her son and claims it will help him progress more quickly to a proper bike.

HARD SOLE SHOES

When your child starts walking, it’s hard to know when is the right time to buy their first pair of hard-soled shoes.

While you might be tempted to immediately buy mini versions of your favorite sneakers, this expert says babies shouldn’t wear hard shoes until they’ve been walking for at least six weeks.

“They can’t walk, where are they going?” Alexandra joked, saying that it is necessary to invest in soft shoes that protect the delicate bones of babies’ feet.

BABY BJORN MINI

Finally, it is one of the most modern baby carriers on the market.

While other parents may be rushing to the checkout to get their hands on them, Alexandra claims the design is “terribly uncomfortable” compared to other alternatives.

We wonder what other items would make your list.

What is a Norland nanny?

Trained at Norland’s elite school, these nannies care for royalty as well as the rich and famous.

Known for their iconic uniform and brown hat, these nannies undergo intense training, learning about all aspects of child care and early development.

They will undergo specialized training in first aid, advanced driving and even self-defense, according to a former recruit.

It seems that Mary Poppins has nothing to do with Norland’s nannies.
