A mum has revealed why she lets her nine-year-old daughter swear and miss school, even though she isn’t physically ill.
America’s Abbey Fickley took to social media to reveal her controversial parenting style – but it seemed many people were okay with it.

In the clip, she said, “Five things I don’t care about, Motherhood Edition.”
The first topic was swear words, and Abbey revealed that she let her daughter use them whenever she wanted, when they were at home.
“We call them house words because that’s what they are,” she explained.
“That’s a privilege, so if you use a bad word to be cruel to someone else, that privilege will be revoked.”
Abbey revealed that she wanted to teach her daughter about context, including swearing, and revealed that her daughter rarely swears.
Abbey added that this was because she never made a big deal out of using swear words, so her daughter was never shy about using them or not.
She also allowed her daughter to miss school for a mental health day as that was more important than education.
She also revealed the trust built between the two, as her daughter could communicate openly and Abbey always listened to her needs.
“Life is hard, not just for adults, but for children as well,” Abbey said.
Abbey also revealed that she wouldn’t limit her daughter’s playdates and that her home was open to any of her friends at any time.
“I didn’t work this hard to get this house and not fill it with love and laughter,” she added.
Abbey also said that her daughter doesn’t need to listen to every authority figure in her life, adding that she prefers her daughter to feel safe.
The mother went on to add that her daughter would never obey an authority figure just because they are one.
Last but not least, Abbey didn’t care what music her daughter listened to and whether it was age appropriate, as long as it wasn’t offensive.

“If she’s having a bad day and needs to pop some Ice Spice, that’s none of my business, honey,” she said.
“I love motherhood and I am very proud of my parental priorities. These things I listed are not the focus in our house,” she captioned the post.
The clip went viral on his TikTok account @abbeyfickley with more than 1.5 million views and 230 thousand likes.
People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments, with many agreeing on the mother’s paternity.
