A mum has been criticized after admitting she doesn’t bother to bathe her children during the hot summer months.

Instead, she stated that spending time in pool counts as a bath, leaving the other parents furious.

Neely Gracey is a mother of two and fitness enthusiast living in the United States.

But his controversial advice to parents recently hit social media.

The mother suggested that other parents could ditch their children’s nighttime bathing or bathing routine if they spend time in the pool during the day.

His video quickly went viral and currently has over 102,000 views.

In the clip, her son Neely sat wrapped in a towel after getting out of the nearby pool.

The text of the video read: “It’s great that the pool counts as swimming time for everyone who participates!”

The mom captioned the clip: “Please tell me I’m not the only mom celebrating.”

But her confession was not well-received by many other parents, who criticized her for the video.

One said: “No way man. Pool day means it’s DEFINITELY chubby night for my kids. So gross, chemicals, sunscreen, sweat, pee, salt, etc.”

A second agreed: “I never want to shower harder than after a long day at the pool or beach.”

“Oh this is nasty,” one user added.

“People wonder how a pandemic happened,” commented another person.

In fact, the post caused such an uproar that Neely spoke to Ally about all of this, and confessed that he had no idea that people would care so much about it.

“I did not publish this in any way to create the level of controversy that it apparently did,” she said.

“The main reason behind this was that I knew that all over the country everyone’s pools were opening up.”

The mom explained that she just wanted to give other parents permission to have fun with their kids this summer.

Neely also insisted that despite the post, she bathes her children, even after a day in the pool.

Different Parenting Styles Explained

There are four recognized parenting styles explained below:

Authoritative Parenting

What some might describe as “regimental” or “strict” parenting.

Parents with this style focus on strict rules, obedience, and discipline.

Authoritarian parents assume decision-making power, rarely giving their children any input on the matter.

When it comes to rules, you believe it’s “my way or the highway.”

Permissive Parenting

Often referred to as ‘soft parenting’ or ‘yes moms/dads’.

Permissive parents are tolerant and only intervene when there is a serious problem.

They are very forgiving and adopt a “kids will be kids” attitude.

They often act more like friends than authority figures.

Authorized Parenthood

Authoritarian parents provide rules and limits to their children, but they also give them freedom to make decisions.

With an authoritarian parenting style, parents validate their children’s feelings while making it clear that adults are ultimately in charge.

They use positive reinforcement techniques, such as praise and reward systems, as opposed to harsh punishments.

Neglectful or uninvolved parenting

Essentially, neglectful parents ignore their children, who receive little guidance, affection and attention from their parents.

They don’t set rules or expectations and tend to have minimal knowledge about what their children are doing.

Uninvolved parents expect their children to raise themselves. They don’t devote much time or energy to meeting children’s basic needs.

Uninvolved parents can be negligent, but it is not always intentional. A parent with mental health or substance abuse issues, for example, may not be able to consistently care for a child’s physical or emotional needs.
