A mum has been criticized after complaining she has no money to pay for her food shop despite receiving a huge Universal Credit payment.

She revealed that she couldn’t see how she was being supported by the government as a single mother as she was still struggling to meet the cost of living.
In the clip, she took viewers around Lidl to shop her shop, revealing it cost her a huge £159 a week to feed herself and her two children.
The cart was filled with huge bags of pasta, chips, cookies, ice cream, ready meals and essentials like cereal and milk.
But it wasn’t the contents of your cart or the price of your purchases that left people stunned.
The mother revealed the huge payment she received every month from the government and it left people speechless.
She wrote: “How am I going to be able to get Universal Credit of £2,123 a month when even a Lidl store now costs me £159 a week!
“When is the next Payment of the cost of living?”
“Really struggling, where is the support?” she captioned the post.
Universal mother’s benefits amounted to £25,476 per year on average, while the average UK salary was £34,963 in 2023.
Once taxes and national insurance are taken into account, this leaves many Brits on £27,571 a year, but of course if you’re on benefits you won’t be paying either.
Many were furious about the pay, with some NHS staff claiming they were being paid less money than the mother was receiving.
The clip posted to his TikTok account went viral with over 780,000 views and 3,000 likes.
Many people took to the comments shocked at how much the mother was being paid and weren’t happy that their full-time jobs didn’t offer the same amount of money.
One person wrote: “Is this an end? It should be. I work full time and only earn £1,300 at night.”

Another commented: “I work full time for the NHS and take home £1,600… I can only dream of earning that much.”
“That’s more than I make working full time,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile, a quarter said: “You take home more than most of us from working!”
“I have three jobs. One of them is full-time at a school and, combined, I don’t earn that much,” said a fifth.
Someone else added: “I don’t earn that much as a teacher honestly it’s crazy.”
