She wrote: “How people react to my daughter’s name when they are too polite to tell me they hate it.”

The first mother, she revealed, would follow up the name reveal by making a collection of random noises to try and disguise her hatred for the name.

Another reaction Gigi has seen a lot since choosing her daughter’s name was having her parents repeat the nickname over and over again to cover up their horror.

The mother added that some parents were so horrified that they were unable to speak.

“The woman who is too disgusted to say anything,” she said.

But some people try to cover up the fact that they hate it.

Gigi explains that you can tell when they’re not serious as they say ‘that’s lovely’ over and over again.

“Even if it makes her physically sick,” she continued.

But the mother said she appreciated those who pretended she hadn’t ruined her daughter’s life with her unusual name.

“Big love to all these women for at least trying to hide the fact that they think I ruined my daughter’s life,” Gigi captioned the post.

The clip posted to the mother’s TikTok account @candygigiyoung It has since gone viral with over 244,000 views and 23,000 likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments, with many loving their daughter’s unique nickname.

One person wrote: “My son is called Reign and I hear it all the time, as soon as they say “oh that’s different” I know they hate it.”

Another commented: “Or those who pretend they don’t know how to pronounce it.”

“My youngest son has a very unusual name and that is very accurate,” wrote a third.

Are unique baby names worth it?

The Fabulous deputy editor reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name growing up.

When I was a kid, all I wanted was one of those personalized keychains with my name on it.

But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not very good for a girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be really annoying.

Although I’ve come into contact with a few Josies over the past year – there seem to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or poorly written.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not as attached to Griffiths as I always said’ hi, it’s Josie’ when calling a friend.

I think it’s good to be unique and I will definitely try to replicate that when naming my own children.

It’s the rude names you have to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist, I’ll definitely avoid them.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “No, because that’s the cutest name ever.”

“No, but people go crazy with names these days,” said a fifth.

Another person added: “My son’s name is a little different and it’s 100% elderly people who are horrified.”
