A MOTHER OF FIVE has revealed how she managed to fit all her children into one room – despite people saying they needed a bigger house.

Jeri explained that her entire growing brood loves the “shared space” after she and her husband discovered a way to squeeze all the beds into one room.

She took it to Instagram to show the final result, with one side of the room occupied by a tall double bed.

Underneath were two wicker single beds.

And on the other side of the room was a tall single bed, accessed by a climbing wall and fire pole.

The single bed is for her only daughter, as Jeri explained in the video’s caption: “I gave Naya options on how to set up the shed and she chose climbing wall and fireman’s pole – of course, the boys got jealous and asked for a fire pole. firefighter too lol!

“They took turns sleeping on the bunk bed, but now our Naya has her own bed.

“I just needed to buy something pink and sparkly to add more magic to my space.”

Jeri is expecting baby number five and said one of the wicker beds would be replaced with the new baby’s crib when it was time for them to go to their room.

All the clothes are in a closet between the two single beds, as she added: “They don’t have much!

“Toys don’t belong in the bedroom – just the playroom!”

While some comments on the post praised Jeri and her husband for their ingenuity in designing the room, others insisted it would only work for a short time.

Mother builds her own house for her 12-year-old son in the garden

“This is good for kids 10 and under,” wrote one.

“When they reach puberty, they will want their own space and will need it for individual growth.”

“I shared a room with my brother until I was 11 and he was 13 and it was absolutely horrible,” added another.

“It was always a mess, we argued about everything and never had privacy/a safe space to go to when we needed alone time.

“I absolutely do not recommend that your children share bedrooms after the age of 9.”

“What a great room for the kids, but what about when they grow up?” a third asked.

But others defended the family for its configuration.

“This is incredible,” insisted one.

“Coming from a person who has 6 brothers, living in a 3-bedroom house.

Is it allowed to convert a garage into a bedroom?

USING average house price values from Zoopla, Admiral Loans crunched the numbers and found that each square meter of living space is worth an average of £350.

Typically, the size of a small detached garage in the UK is 128 square feet, making the additional space worth £45,000.

A standard conversion costs between £4,995 and £7,500 depending on the work you’ve carried out, according to Householdquotes.co.uk, which will obviously eat into your profits.

If the garage is attached to your house you won’t even need to pay for planning permission, which currently costs £206.

The work falls under “permitted development rules”, which allows you to make certain changes to your home, as long as they are within limits.

This is because you are not actually changing the exterior dimensions of the building.

But you will need to make an application to the local authority if your garage is separate from your house, if you live in an apartment or maisonette or in a listed building.

Before starting any work, it is worth checking that there are no planning conditions associated with your property – you can do this by writing to your local authority.

If you proceed with building work that actually required permission, you may be ordered to dismantle it.

“And the two older brothers have their boyfriend/girlfriend living with us too… I never felt neglected, I never felt mistreated.

“I always had someone to talk to if I needed it.

“Teenagers don’t need the privacy you’re talking about.

“That’s just a luxury if they have it. It’s not a necessity!”

“Speaking as a mother of 5, I can honestly say that even when I got married in a room of 6 and my kids had their own room, they still CHOSE to sleep in one room and one bed!!” another added.

“They are now 16, 11, 10, 9 and 6 and the youngest 4 STILL sneak into each other’s rooms and sleep like puppies!

“I love it and they love it, so what’s the problem?

“Eventually they will get through it ON THEIR OWN and changes can be made, but as a child, that is LIFE!!!”

While a third agreed, writing: “Humans have been sharing bedrooms for centuries… we’re fine!”
