A MUM has been praised after sharing a genius trick for straightening rolled collars on school sundresses WITHOUT having to take out the iron.

There are few things more annoying than getting your daughter ready for school, putting on her uniform, and then realizing that the collar of her cotton dress needs ironing.

Nancy took to her TikTok page to show how she uses straighteners to solve her daughter's annoying curly collars

But instead of rushing to take out the iron, mom Nancy explained that she just plugs in the straightener.

On a video on her TikTok page, Nancy showed herself wearing a straightener on her daughter’s collar.

After getting them into position, she slowly began to smooth out the collar.

After straightening one side, she moved on to the other – with the entire process taking just a few seconds.

“Honestly one of the best uses of straighteners,” she wrote at the beginning of the video.

“Save so much time and work so well!”

And he added in the caption: “You’re welcome! Best mom trick for those collars!”

People almost immediately flooded the comments section with praise for Nancy, with one writing, “OMG what a good idea!”

“I wore collars on polos and dresses—no matter how much I ironed them, they never stayed down.”

“That’s what I do. Her dresses always look perfect, but those curly collars are the bane of my life,” admitted another.

“What a good idea, I’ll never iron again,” commented a third.

“Maybe people don’t iron these days, but for a quick fix I never thought of that!” someone said.

“Very good work, ma’am!”

“What an amazing idea, thank you!” another added.

“What a great idea – even for adults,” someone else wrote.

“I often put something down and it gets crumpled in a hard-to-reach area.”

My view as a mother of two, by Sarah Bull

I hate ironing clothes.

So much so that I’d rather clean the bathroom than iron my children’s uniforms.

In fact, I’ve even tried – over the years – to buy a uniform for my 10-year-old son and six-year-old daughter that doesn’t require ironing.

And while we can usually get away with it, since most wrinkles disappear when clothes are being dried, the billowy collars on my daughter’s summer dresses are a total nightmare.

So I think I will definitely try Nancy’s hack.

Taking out the ironing board, prepping the iron and waiting for it to heat up is a total pain, so being able to plug in the straighteners and do it in seconds is extremely appealing.

Another called it “genius,” while someone else suggested using the straighteners to apply heat-adhesive labels to children’s school clothes as well.

“I’ve been doing this with all my kids – on my sleeves too,” wrote another, to which Nancy responded that it had been a huge “time saver” for her.

Others were less impressed and criticized the mother for not removing the iron.

“I mean, you could iron properly!!” one sighed.

“Does anyone iron clothes these days?” another asked.

To which Nancy replied, “Not me!”

“I use an iron to make my son’s uniform,” boasted a third.

And someone else shared a warning about the hack.

Please be very careful!” they wrote.

“I did this with my work collar and my hand slipped and I ended up going to hospital with the burn it caused to the lower part of my neck.

“It’s a very delicate area of the skin.”
