A savvy shopper was left open-mouthed as she browsed the aisles of her local Smyths toy store.

Samantha Yates discovered a bargain for just £6.99 and was so pleased with her purchase – the Intex Crystaln Blue paddling pool – that she took to social media to show it off to others.

Posting in Extreme Coupons and Bargains in the UKa private Facebook group with 2.5 million members, Samantha shared a Photograph of your child enjoying time on their new paddle pool.

Alongside the post, the savvy mum smiled: “I bought this paddling pool for £7 from Smyths in Wigan.”

Samantha was lucky enough to get her hands on the cheap kiddie pool and later confirmed there were still plenty on the shelves.

She added: “There were lots… there’s one bigger than this for £10.

“We bought the smaller one just because we have a small garden.

“I’m not sure if there are any online as we bought it in store.”

The mother explained that she was thrilled not only with the price of the children’s pool, but also with the size.

She confirmed: “It’s fab for £6.99… we didn’t realize how big it was.”

The children’s pool is recommended for children aged three and over.

It’s made from thick, durable plastic for long-lasting outdoor use and is perfect for hours of summer fun.

Designed with three inflatable rings, this pool can be easily installed in any backyard.

Although the pumps are sold separately, these pools come with a repair patch for easy repair.

Five ways to keep your kids cool in the heat

It can be very difficult – and expensive – to keep kids cool when it’s hot outside. But Fabulous Digital Senior Reporter and mom of two Sarah Bull shares five ways you can help, and they won’t break the bank either.

Take them off

It may seem simple, but getting kids out of the house can really help them regulate their temperature when it’s hot outside. Just remember to apply sunscreen regularly as more of your skin will be exposed to the sun.

Cool rooms before dark

When it’s hot outside, it can be hard for kids to sleep — especially if their room feels like an oven. If you have a room that doesn’t receive direct sunlight, keep the windows open to let in the breeze. It’s also a good idea to keep the curtains closed to prevent the room from getting hot.

Wear a hat

Another simple technique, but one that really works. Make sure that if your children are playing outside, they are wearing a hat. It keeps your face and head protected from the sun and also helps if you have a child who struggles with bright sunlight. If your child has trouble keeping their hat on, try one with a strap that goes under their chin to help.

Avoid the car

The car can be one of the hottest places during a heatwave and it often takes a long time to cool down. If you have the option, it’s better to stay home than take the kids everywhere in a hot car.

Stay hydrated

This is always important, but even more so in a heat wave. Remember to regularly remind your children to have a drink and top them up with cold liquids whenever you can. Use ice as well to ensure it is as cold as possible.

BEAM OF SOCIAL MEDIA USERS

Samantha’s post clearly impressed many as it quickly racked up over 100 likes.

Social media users were stunned by the cheap purchase and many took to the comments to express this.

How to Save Money on Summer Essentials

Sunnier days and warmer weather will leave many of us wanting to equip our gardens and outdoor areas.

Sun Savers editor Lana Clements explains how to get lots of summer essentials…

It’s worth knowing how to score big savings on hot tubs, wading pools, egg chairs and outdoor bars.

Many retailers run flash sales on entire ranges – often this is related to payday at the end of the month or holiday weekends.

Sign up for your favorite brands’ email lists and you’ll be the first to know about special offers. It may also be worth following retailers on social media.

Keep an eye out for special buys at Aldi and halfway through Lidl, which happen a few times a week and usually mean big-ticket seasonal items like beach gear and wading pools.

If you’re not in a rush to buy an item, try adding it to your shopping cart and leaving it for a few days.

Sometimes big brands try to entice you into the sale by offering you a discount.

Always check if you can receive cashback before paying. It’s especially worth using sites like Topcashback, Quidco and Jamdoughnut app when buying larger items like garden furniture as you’ll get a good reward.

DELICIOUS REVIEWS

Not only that, but many Smyths shoppers have taken to the site to share their thoughts on affordable shopping.

One parent explained: “Great small pool – the picture is to a good scale, can comfortably accommodate four children playing in it.

Plenty of space for my two children

Smiths Buyer

“Good depth, not enough to be dangerous, but enough so that children have the feeling of a pool where they can pretend to swim.”

A second interrupted: “Children’s pool excellent value. Good size. Perfect for our three year old granddaughter.”

While another shared: “I was very skeptical about the size – when I got home and filled it up the size was huge! Plenty of space for my two children!”
