What is the ‘baby belly theory’?

Can the sex of the fetus really be determined by the belly?

Popular theory suggests that a baby’s sex can be revealed by the shape of the mother’s belly.

For years, it has been claimed that the way a woman carries a fetus can predict whether it is a girl or a boy.

If followed, the theory suggests that the baby will be a boy if the belly is high and in the front. A lower, more spread out bump is said to indicate a girl.

But this really is just an old wives’ tale.

In reality, the only way to find out the sex of the fetus is through medical examinations.

This can be done in several ways – through an ultrasound, a chromosomal blood test or through a CVS/amniocentesis.

In a follow-up clip, the mother confirmed that she had indeed only given birth to one baby.

As she held her beautiful daughter, she explained, “Here she is, she’s five weeks old now.

“And yes, she is fat. She’s solid, just like her sisters and brother were, so I’m not surprised.

“At her one-month check-up, she weighed 12 pounds, 12 ounces.

“She’s a Leo, but she’s the cutest little Matilda.”
