A WOMAN has revealed she really regrets her name after she and her husband struggled to choose a nickname for their third child.
Whitney Poole, mother of three, explained that even her mother didn’t really like her son’s name, and as a result, she decided to change his nickname.
Posting on social media, Whitney explained that she and her partner decided to do something about their baby name regret and are now in the process of legally changing it from Russell to Charles.
In the short clip that was shared online with the caption ‘That time we changed our baby’s name’, we saw a variety of photos of the adorable newborn baby,
As a result of her ‘regret,’ Whitney explained, “So Mom and Dad decided to do something about it and give you the name they wish you had picked at the hospital… so without further ado…
“Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is… Charles (but my friends call me Charley) Zane Poole.”
Whitney later revealed that her son was initially named Russell: “Perfectly fine name, but Charles is also my dad’s middle name, so there’s a lot more significance and significance to our family.”
She explained that she and her partner found it difficult to agree on a name, as she continued: “He was our third and we had a really hard time agreeing on the name. I was lucky my husband was on the same page.”
The duo now goes through a “long” court process, which involves a “ton of paperwork” to change the name.
The mother shared that people have been “supportive” of her decision, but some people have found it more difficult to deal with than others.
She highlighted: “Most people have been supportive. My mother went through more difficult times. Which is funny because she didn’t like the name Russell to begin with.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @iamwhitneypooleIt clearly left many speechless as it quickly racked up 862,900 views.
Many parents were surprised by the baby name story, and others made a point of sharing their own baby name regrets.
One person said: “We also mourn our son’s name.
“We moved legally when he was a year old.”
The struggle to choose a baby name
CHLOE Morgan, senior writer at Fabulous, revealed her dilemma when choosing a name for her baby…
At 35 weeks pregnant, by far the trickiest part of pregnancy for me over the last few months (minus the insomnia and countless nighttime breaks!) has been trying to decide on the baby’s name.
The dilemmas are endless…
My partner and I had a private exam to find out the sex as early as possible – partly because we thought it would make naming babies so much easier because we would only have to create a list of names for one gender instead of two.
How wrong we were…
I was absolutely thrilled to learn I was expecting the girl I’d always dreamed of, but being one of the last friends to get pregnant, I’ve had countless conversations over the years with excited friends discussing their top baby names. …something I wish I could go back in time and not hear.
With every friend mentioning at least 10 possible nicknames, I can’t help but feel that several are now off-limits, even though I know it’s something none of them would mind in the slightest – it’s a total turn-off for me!
The debate comes up again and again on social media forums – can you choose the same name that was a “potential” for a friend’s baby?
It’s a very divisive subject and opinions are always mixed… and I don’t want to be THAT person.
While some will argue that there are thousands of other names to choose from, others will say that you need to choose YOUR favorite… after all, there is no guarantee that this person will have another child.
Then there’s also the matter of finding a name you love… only to look it up online and read one negative review among hundreds of positive ones that you just can’t get rid of.
I made this same mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won’t reveal it because I don’t want to ruin it for others!)…only to have someone point out that it is constantly autocorrected on a phone to something quite rude. So, we went back to the drawing board.
There are only five weeks left and it looks like our little one will be known as ‘baby gal’ for a while longer!
Another added: “We changed our daughter’s name at 10 months.
“Her middle name became her first name and we gave her a new middle name.”
A third commented: “We did it! But only when she was two years old, then we had to go to court.
“It’s a lot easier if you do it before they turn one. But I understand.”
