A PREGNANT mother-of-two has been criticized after making “concerning” comments about her children’s home schooling.

Spiritual influencer Mami Onami is proudly “free educating” her children, allowing them to set their own curriculum and decide when (or even if) they want to learn.

The 28-year-old doesn’t want her young people to “adapt” to the traditional 40-hour work week.

“I’m not lifting the cogs in the economic wheel,” Onami said. “I am creating leaders of the future.

“The curriculum is different.”

Their children, a six-year-old boy named Rainer and a three-year-old girl named Wylie, will never take an exam or complete the course.

In fact, they will never step foot in a classroom.

In a recent TikTok video, which has since gone viral, Onami shockingly declared that she “doesn’t teach her kids anything.”

“Everything they learn is a response to their interests or their questions,” she explained.

“We don’t have a curriculum, we don’t have school hours.

“We really respond whenever they want to know something and we do our best to make sure they really understand.”

In the video, she opens a page in her six-year-old son Rainer’s notebook, where he practiced spelling the words “egg”, “light bulb”, “jar” and “lion”.

Paris Fury, born as a traveler, defends her decision to educate her daughter Venezuela at home

“This is him doing it himself,” added Onami, from California, USA.

“If you don’t like the idea of sending your kids away for 40 hours a week and then wondering why they don’t have the energy to do anything else…

“If you don’t like your children’s conformity, trust that you can follow their interests.

“And they will learn whatever they need to learn, not what other people need them to learn.”

UK Homeschool Rules

In the UK, homeschooling is a legal and viable option for parents…

  • English and Welsh parents do not need permission to educate their children at home, but they must notify the school in writing if they withdraw their children from a school to home educate.
  • Scottish parents must obtain consent from their local council before withdrawing their child from school, unless the child has never attended a state school.
  • Parents must ensure that their children receive an effective full-time education appropriate to their age, ability and any special educational needs
  • There is no requirement to follow the National Curriculum, take standard exams or keep to school hours

However, parents still need to ensure that their children receive an adequate education. If not, your local council may intervene.

  • Your local council can make informal inquiries to ensure your child is receiving an appropriate education
  • They may even request information about home education offerings to ensure the learning materials are suitable
  • If the council believes your child is falling short, they may issue a school attendance order or issue an attendance warning

Trolls were quick to attack the non-traditional mother and accuse her of “crippling her children.”

“You are crippling your children,” one of them shot back.

“It’s okay if you want to keep them ignorant and at home forever.

“Personally, I want the best for my children.”

“My parents ruined my life by doing this – RUINED IT,” opined another reviewer.

“I’ve never been able to catch up, I’ll never be able to live the life I want.”

Others suggested that Rainer’s literary skills were “far below average” for children his age.

Onami has since responded to the critics and admitted that the scathing comments “hurt her feelings at first.”

“Having a lot of people on the internet saying that my son is stupid, that I’m a neglectful parent and that people should call child protective services on me — that really hurt my feelings at first,” she said. Rolling Stone.

“But I’m not going to listen to comments about how to raise my children.

“That would be like trusting the comments section about where to invest your money.”
