HE is no stranger to causing controversy with his jokes.
But comedian Dapper Laughs may have gone too far this time — after mocking his pregnant wife’s walk.
The funnyman, whose real name is Daniel O’Reilly, took to TikTok to share a video of wife Shelley in Sainsbury’s, as he mocked her gait.
“Why do pregnant women walk around like they’re about to start a fight?” he started his video.
As the camera turned and Shelley returned to the scene, he added: “Want some fruit with that bowl?
Shelley seemed completely unimpressed by her husband’s antics, frowning and saying “What?”
He then filmed Shelley as she walked in front of him, continuing: “She looks like she’s just left Wetherspoons, with 10 Stellas in the bottom of her pub food.”
When they approached a customer and a supermarket employee, he said Shelley looked like she was going to “start with those two” now.
Clearly irritated, Shelley told the other half to “shut up”.
And many people in the comments section criticized the former Celebrity Big Brother star.
“Woke up a lot of pregnant moms with this one,” one wrote.
“Because we are in pain, the baby is heavy and pushing down!” another added.
To which Dapper responded, “It’s a joke!”
“Because there is literally a bowling ball between my legs,” commented a third.
“It’s a level of discomfort you can’t understand unless you’ve lived it,” insisted another person.
“The head. The pressure, the swelling”, sighed another.
“Honestly, it looks like the head is right at the entrance, so you have to walk like that to be more comfortable,” wrote another person.
“The last few weeks have been hell.”
“Ah, leave her alone, God bless her,” asked another.
“Comedians’ wives must be stressed 24/7,” said another person.
But others insisted they found the joke funny.
“It’s funny because it’s true,” one wrote.
“Poor Shelley, she looks so uncomfortable, God bless her!”
“Oh my god I was about to get defensive being a pregnant woman but I’m crying,” admitted another.
“She just needs a tracksuit and some airmax 95s,” laughed a third.
“That left me in shock, go ahead Shelley!” someone said.
“As a pregnant woman, I’m howling,” another commented.
Dapper first burst onto the scene in 2014 when they released the single Proper Moist.
He landed an ITV2 show, Dapper Laughs: On the Pull, but the show was canceled after a petition from thousands of viewers following a live program in which he said a woman in the audience was “gagging for rape”.
In November 2014, Daniel announced that he was retiring the Dapper Laughs character, but resurrected it the following March.
He entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2018 and was the eighth housemate to be evicted.
He proposed to Shelley during her eviction interview.
Daniel and Shelley – who married in 2022 – are already parents to two daughters and will welcome their third child into the world in the very near future.
