IF you’ve ever had trouble getting your baby to stop crying, you know how exhausting it can be.

Instead of receiving some sympathy, a mother was made to feel like the “worst mother in the world” by her neighbor after her baby cried all night.

Having been left embarrassed, the heartbroken mother vented about the incident online.

Posting on Mumsnet, the exhausted woman explained what happened and asked others for advice – having struggled with her nine-month-old son.

She told the forum that her daughter was born with a nasty Strep B infection – causing her to spend a week in intensive care.

Although the infection had cleared, her son had been constantly ill since he started attending nursery three months ago and had struggled to recover.

The mother wrote: “She has a cold, cough and runny nose and has not been sleeping well at night. In the last week, my son has been to the doctor twice and was admitted to the hospital with an extremely high fever that we now know is a viral infection.

“Seeing her in such bad shape is heartbreaking and we as parents are doing our best.

To make the situation even worse, the mother was woken up every hour by her son with a very high temperature.

Understandably, everyone was exhausted and emotional.

She became so desperate for her son to settle that her baby started sleeping next to her again so that her mother could tend to her as soon as she moved.

While most of us were sympathetic to the mother, your neighbor decided to criticize her upbringing despite not having children.

Continuing, the post read: “My neighbor knocked on my door this morning… He started complaining about her crying and keeping him and his wife awake.”

The nasty neighbor then pointedly told the mother to “seek support”, making the mother feel like the “worst mother in the world” as her baby was “crying so much”.

Having dropped everything on her power to help her, her mother asked if she was being ‘unfair’ (yes, you read that right).

Naturally, most Mumsnet users sided with the exhausted mother.

I feel ashamed of my good looks and get stared at in the baby group – other women are jealous and need to make more effort

“Why ask if you are being unfair? Is there anything you could do to limit the crying and not do this? That would be unfair,” asked a shocked user.

Others also called the neighbor a “bully” after leaving the mother in tears at the door of her house.

Another added: “He’s a stupid bully, he should be sorry for not acting like the great I am.

“I would have looked at him, raised an eyebrow and closed the door.”

After also struggling to sleep, the neighbor decided to attack the mother

Some tried to sympathize with both parties and even offered solutions to the exhausted mother.

“They didn’t know your baby was sick, from what they know you are doing sleep training,” a third commented, saying, “I also understand where they are coming from. Is the crib far from the party wall?

To which the mother revealed that the crib was on the other side of the house.

A fourth then suggested that the mother “reassure” her neighbor that her daughter was simply not well and that she was being well looked after.

We don’t know if we would be so diplomatic in this situation.
