A mother was shocked to discover she was pregnant six months after her husband’s vasectomy.

Victoria Wood, a mother of two from Texas, was stunned when she began experiencing pregnancy symptoms in April, when her husband Will underwent male sterilization last October.

After Victory and Will welcomed their second daughter in 2022, they felt their family was complete.

However, they are now expecting their third baby, despite the chances of getting pregnant being less than one percent.

Speaking in a TikTok video, Victoria – who is currently mum to Luna and Laney – said: “Will is a rule follower to a T.

“And he did all the follow-up appointments [after his vasectomy] and then he also had a sperm analysis in January of this year, and the sperm analysis was zero.”

Victoria realized something was up when she missed her period in April and asked Will to take a pregnancy test, leaving him understandably confused.

She explained: “[I said] I know, but my body feels weird.

When the results came back, she discovered they were pregnant.

She shared: “[The test] is positive.

“I’m freaking out, he’s freaking out, it’s a whirlwind of emotions.

“The urologist reported that in the seven years he has been performing surgeries, this is the first time this has happened to him and asked for another sperm analysis, which still came back zero.

I gave my husband a cake to celebrate his vasectomy – people say I’m ‘bad’ and he’s going to cheat on me

“Now the urologist is saying there is an underlying condition in your wife if she has a positive pregnancy test.

“She’s one year old, she’s pregnant or she’s two years old, there’s a tumor or cancer or some underlying disease.”

Victoria admitted that she started to “freak out” upon hearing those words and shared: “I’m crying right now.

“He’s recommending that I make an appointment with all these specialists for follow-up and I’m trying to get in, they’re saying it’s not an emergency.”

The couple went to the emergency room and had an ultrasound, which confirmed that they were pregnant.

Victoria admitted that on the car ride home, her husband dismissed the idea that she had cheated on him.

She added: “No way did I cheat on him.

“[But I tell him] For your peace of mind, would you like me to do a paternity test?

Will assured her that he believed her and did not need to undergo a prenatal paternity test, which can cost £1,557.

They broke the News to their families and admitted they were “excited and happy” but confused.

The news left Will’s parents perplexed and they also questioned paternity.

What is a vasectomy and what is the success rate?

VASECTOMY is the name given to a small operation that prevents sperm from ejaculating during sex.

During surgery, the tubes that carry fluid from the man’s testicles to the penis are cut, blocked or sealed.

The National Health Service explains: “This prevents sperm from reaching the seminal fluid (semen), which is ejaculated from the penis during sex.

“There will be no sperm in the semen, so the woman’s egg cannot be fertilized.”

Surprisingly, the life-changing operation can be performed in just 15 minutes.

The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia, so it is usually relatively painless.

People who have a vasectomy are encouraged to continue using alternative forms of contraception to protect themselves against sexually transmitted diseases.

The NHS website reveals that vasectomy is more than 99% effective.

They estimate: “Of every 2,000 men sterilized, one will impregnate a woman during the rest of his life.”

But, as with all forms of contraception, there is still a small chance of fertility after the procedure.

Victoria said: “Will’s mother, the next day [asks] If we can talk privately, she pulls me into the room and basically asks ‘are you willing to do a paternity test?”

The pregnant woman said she was “destroyed” by the conversation, but saw where she was coming from and agreed to have a test.

She added: “I do the paternity test and it is, of course, Will’s.

“We are expecting baby number three in December this year.”

Many people were shocked by the story, but others said they had similar experiences.

One of them said: “I got pregnant after a tubal ligation.

“Less than one percent club here too! I did a paternity test on my daughter to make sure she is mine.”

Another added: “Clearly this baby was meant to be in the world to do wonderful and amazing things in the world. future! I would love an update in about 20 years to see what this kid is up to.”

A third added: “MIL worked with a man with six children. They had three, she had her tubes cleaned, she got pregnant with number four, he had a vasectomy (with all the trimmings), she got pregnant with twins.”

Former Manchester United and England star Wayne, 38, is among around 11,000 British men who have a vasectomy on the NHS every year, most of them in their late thirties like him.

But another 40 thousand people search for “vasectomy” on Google every month, suggesting that more men are considering undergoing the procedure.

GP and sexual health specialist Janine David told Sun Health: “Vasectomies are a wonderful thing. It’s quick and simple, done in your family doctor’s office.

“It carries very little risk and most men find it much easier and more satisfying than expected.”

But in many cases pride and fear of pain continue to put men off the procedure, even though it is a fairly safe and uncomplicated operation that gets men back into action in the bedroom within two to three weeks.
