The anonymous woman explained that people think the name is “sassy” and she agrees that it is “not classy.”

Opening up about the situation, the woman took to social media to tell other people, leaving many speechless.

Posting on Mumsnet, in a ‘chat’ forumthe mother, who posts under the username @meandmylounge, titled her post ‘I really don’t like my son’s name.’

She then explained that her daughter is called Lola, as she said: “She was chosen in a hurry when she was born poorly.

“My husband loved it and kept calling her that and I just kept going when the NICU asked ‘she has a name, but can we write it down?’

“Anyway, it was registered like this. And she’s not too far from school age, so obviously that can’t be changed fairly.”

The mother explained that although she thinks the nickname is “quite cute,” many people consider it “sassy.”

She added: “I don’t like it because it’s not really an adult name. It’s quite beautiful. And it’s not horrible.

“But it’s cheeky, a lot of people would say!

“I just wish I had given her an adult name that was timeless and classic.”

I was expecting Chardonnay or something. Lola is fine

Another added: “I think everything is fine. She won’t stand out and there will be lawyers named Lola when she’s older.”

A third commented: “For what it’s worth (and I know it won’t change your opinion), I think it’s really cute and cool.

The struggle to choose a baby name

CHLOE Morgan, senior writer at Fabulous, revealed her dilemma when choosing a name for her baby…

At 35 weeks pregnant, by far the trickiest part of pregnancy for me over the last few months (minus the insomnia and countless nighttime breaks!) has been trying to decide on the baby’s name.

The dilemmas are endless…

My partner and I had a private exam to find out the sex as early as possible – partly because we thought it would make naming babies so much easier because we would only have to create a list of names for one gender instead of two.

How wrong we were…

I was absolutely thrilled to learn I was expecting the girl I’d always dreamed of, but being one of the last friends to get pregnant, I’ve had countless conversations over the years with excited friends discussing their top baby names. …something I wish I could go back in time and not hear.

With every friend mentioning at least 10 possible nicknames, I can’t help but feel that several are now off-limits, even though I know it’s something none of them would mind in the slightest – it’s a total turn-off for me!

The debate comes up again and again on social media forums – can you choose the same name that was a “potential” for a friend’s baby?

It’s a very divisive subject and opinions are always mixed… and I don’t want to be THAT person.

While some will argue that there are thousands of other names to choose from, others will say that you need to choose YOUR favorite… after all, there is no guarantee that this person will have another child.

Then there’s also the matter of finding a name you love… only to look it up online and read one negative review among hundreds of positive ones that you just can’t get rid of.

I made this same mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won’t reveal it because I don’t want to ruin it for others!)…only to have someone point out that it is constantly autocorrected on a phone to something quite rude.

So, we went back to the drawing board.

There are only five weeks left and it looks like our little one will be known as ‘baby gal’ for a while longer!

“She might not want to be a lawyer, and to be honest, even if she does, the current generation is inundated with pretty names like that.”

Another person wrote: “I was hoping for Chardonnay or something. Lola is fine.

While a fifth smiled: “I loved it! It’s absolutely fine for an adult too. If she had a brother called Charlie it would be a bit cute, if she had one called Lulu, Fifi or Tricia they would look like poodles, but Lola is adorable.

“I associate it with the glamorous Italian actresses of the 50s and 60s.”

Not only that, but another user shared, “I love Lola. She’s cool, classy, and could easily be a lawyer (or whatever she wants to be).”

To this, the anonymous mother responded: “It certainly has the cool factor! I’m not sure it could be put in the ‘elegant’ category.”
