CHOOSING the right name for your child’s baby can be an extremely difficult decision for many parents.

A mother shared how an autocorrect error actually helped her name her son after she couldn’t choose a name.

After the couple fell in love with the name, they later discovered there was a lingerie line with the same name that they chose – but that didn’t make them regret it.

Taking to reddit, the mother said: “I was almost due and my husband and I couldn’t agree on a name.

“So I was just texting him EVERYTHING at this point, trying to get him to say yes to something, that way we at least had a starting point.

“I went to type ‘Aiden’ and it autocorrected to ‘Auden’, we loved it.

“Sometimes, if I want to sound fancy, I say we named it after the poet (who I only discovered while trying to make sure Auden wasn’t the name of a famous serial killer or something).”

While they maintain the name choice, they discovered that it is also an underwear line in America.

The mother shared: “Unfortunately, there is now a line of women’s underwear on Target called ‘Auden’.

“Who knows.”

Many people loved the name Auden and played with the reference to the Target collection.

One said: “May your son support the girls in his life, just like Auden supports my girls.”

Another added: “I actually really like Auden. (: much better than Aiden, actually.”

A third commented: “I loved this story and the name! I know the Target line exists and I’ve seen it countless times, but I honestly never connected them in my brain 🙂

“It never made me like the name any less.”

And one wrote: “No, but why is Auden my new favorite name depending on how it’s pronounced?”

We previously shared how, ten days after naming her daughter, a woman realized she was pronouncing her baby’s name wrong.

The struggle to choose a baby name

CHLOE Morgan, senior writer at Fabulous, revealed her dilemma when choosing a name for her baby…

At 35 weeks pregnant, by far the trickiest part of pregnancy for me over the last few months (minus the insomnia and countless nighttime breaks!) has been trying to decide on the baby’s name.

The dilemmas are endless…

My partner and I had a private exam to find out the sex as early as possible – partly because we thought it would make naming babies so much easier because we would only have to create a list of names for one gender instead of two.

How wrong we were…

I was absolutely thrilled to learn I was expecting the girl I’d always dreamed of, but being one of the last friends to get pregnant, I’ve had countless conversations over the years with excited friends discussing their top baby names. …something I wish I could go back in time and not hear.

With every friend mentioning at least 10 possible nicknames, I can’t help but feel that several are now off-limits, even though I know it’s something none of them would mind in the slightest – it’s a total turn-off for me!

The debate comes up again and again on social media forums – can you choose the same name that was a “potential” for a friend’s baby?

It’s a very divisive subject and opinions are always mixed… and I don’t want to be THAT person.

While some will argue that there are thousands of other names to choose from, others will say that you need to choose YOUR favorite… after all, there is no guarantee that this person will have another child.

Then there’s also the matter of finding a name you love… only to look it up online and read one negative review among hundreds of positive ones that you just can’t get rid of.

I made this same mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won’t reveal it because I don’t want to ruin it for others!)…only to have someone point out that it is constantly autocorrected on a phone to something quite rude.

So, we went back to the drawing board.

There are only five weeks left and it looks like our little one will be known as ‘baby gal’ for a while longer!

Seeking support, the mother turned to the baby names thread Mothers Network asking for advice on whether it’s too late to change this now.

The mum said: “Before she was born we had a list of three for a girl, when she arrived DH admitted one of them (my favourite) which he just couldn’t accept as a first name. name (Cecília).”

“We were completely undecided about the other two options, but we ended up choosing Elise, a name that we have always really liked,” he added.

Since announcing their choice to friends and family, the parents have realized they’ve been pronouncing the name wrong the whole time.

“We’ve now discovered that a lot of people pronounce it Eh-leess (with the second part as ‘lease,’ as in lease). We always thought it was Eh-leez, and we much prefer that,” she said

“We found that almost everyone so far has pronounced Eh – lease with a soft s. Are we wrong to pronounce eh-leez?” she asked.

The mother explained that she found the whole process of choosing the name very stressful and doesn’t know if she should go back on the decision and rename the baby.
