A self-confessed cougar who dates men 10 years her junior has revealed she is constantly approached by suitors who want her to be their sugar mommy.
Amanda Keller, 37, tends to date men at least a decade younger than herself, but insists they are the ones who make the first move.
Over the past five years, she has had relationships with seven men aged between 26 and 28.
She is currently dating a 26-year-old man.
Keller said age doesn’t bother her, but admitted it can get in the way because men expect her to be their “sugar mommy” — with some even asking for cars and gifts.
She explained that her age allows her to “teach” younger men when it comes to performing in the bedroom and insists that people shouldn’t “judge every cougar by their cover.”
“The age difference doesn’t bother me; it’s the person’s behavior that’s important,” said Keller, operations manager, Detroit, Michigan.
“Many of them don’t want to settle down; they want you to take care of them financially.
“Younger men often date older, more established women so they don’t have to pay for things.
“In the past, I’ve been asked for cars and money. They come in with all these things they want and get angry when they don’t get them.”
Keller has been dating on and off since 2014 after a 17-year relationship.
She said the last seven men she dated were in their 20s and many of them initially think she is their age.
“I seem to be in their age group and they assume they are around my age,” she said.
“When they talk to me, they know they’re not my age.
“I mean, my daughter recently turned 18, and my now ex – who I dated for four years – is 28.
Many men at this age want to learn and are looking for a woman to guide them in what you are looking for sexually.
Amanda Keller
“They are always in the 25 to 28 age group.
“It would be nice to date someone my age, as the maturity level can get in the way.”
DON’T ASK FOR HELP
Keller said one advantage of dating a younger man is that it’s “exciting” and she can teach them how to improve their performance in bed.
But the downside is that they expect her to be their sweet mommy and they are not mature.
When it comes to dating, Keller uses apps like Tinder, Bumble and Facebook Dating to meet new people — and she often receives messages from younger men on Instagram.
“A lot of younger men who approach me through dating apps tend to think that older women are just sugar mamas,” she said.
“Although I have a good job, I am not looking for another child and that is where we have a problem.
“I’m not taking care of them.”
THE EMOTION OF TEACHING
Keller has been dating the 26-year-old for three months and said things are going well.
She stated that she enjoys the “fun element” of dating younger men.
“It’s really fun for me, I feel like in this age group they’re more exciting,” she said.
Don’t judge every cougar by its cover.
Amanda Keller
“I think it’s when you show them new things that they haven’t experienced with women their age – it builds excitement.
“I think women [who] They’re their age and they don’t have a lot of depth.
“When it comes to dating, I’ll want to ride a horse or go hiking or sip and paint.
“Younger people just go to the movies or go to each other’s houses.”
BEDROOM CLASSES
When it comes to having sex with younger men, Keller said he has to “show them the ropes” and guide them on how to pleasure a woman.
“I feel like you need to teach them more about what you need and how to do it,” she explained.
“Many men at this age want to learn and are looking for a woman to guide them in what you are looking for sexually.
“They are definitely ready to learn.”
BAD REPUTATION
Keller stated that people are too quick to judge older women who date younger men.
“Don’t judge every cougar by its cover,” she said.
“Not every cougar may be looking for a 25-year-old, but the younger man may be looking for them.
“I think the Cougars have a bad reputation because we are the ones looking for the 25-year-old.
“They’re usually the ones who approach older women.”
