A FUTURE AUNT couldn’t help but give her two cents about her sister’s unusual baby name, inspired by her late mother.
The child’s name is intended to be a “modern version” of her mother’s name, Victoria, but people say it is an “abomination”.
Reddit user Coradoralora was unhappy with her sister’s choice of name for her baby, despite her intentions.
She shared her opinions on the Tragedeigh forum, where people share names that are “deliberately misspelled or completely made up to seem more unique.”
Node publishshe explained that their mother, Victoria, who went by Vickie, passed away when they were teenagers.
BABY BONDING
Their mother died of ovarian cancer when she was 13 and her sister was 17.
As a result, they planned to honor her in a special way when they were older.
“We always talked about the fact that the first of us to have a girl would name her after our mother,” she said.
Cora explained that her sister was five months pregnant and found out she was having a girl two weeks ago.
“I asked her if she would name it after our mother because she had shared a few times that she wanted to honor our mother but didn’t particularly like our mother’s name,” she said.
Cora shared how her sister wanted to give her unborn daughter a “modern version” of her mother’s name.
She planned to name her Vixorya and call her Vix or Vixie for short.
The Reddit user noted that she personally loves the name Victoria and wants to use it, but has “no prospects” in the dating department.
“I don’t see myself having a baby anytime soon,” she said.
PUBLIC OPINION
Redditors didn’t hold back and gave their unfiltered opinions.
“Forget about bullying at school. Ask her if this is a name she should have on her resume 25 years from now?” one Redditor asked.
“Or ask her to order Starbucks and use that name,” replied another.
One Reddit user even chimed in to say that “every parent considering a tragedy should have to do this.”
“I would like her to pick something like her mom’s favorite flower, or her favorite color, or her vacation spot. Anything other than that abominable name,” wrote a third.
“I would say you can still use Victoria. Your sister is definitely not using it,” advised another person.
“That’s it! OP [original poster]Vixorya is not Victoria, but even if she was, you could still use Victoria,” another person added.
Others found the name funny.
“Vix vaporub. It’s a no from me”, commented one of them.
“Talk to your doctor about whether Vixorya is right for you,” joked another.
