A FORTUNE – that’s how much some people would spend to make their homes shine.
But not DIY-loving dad Shaun Nyland, who recently transformed his “boring” bedroom on a budget, spending just £30 in the process.
According to the crafty dad, the room, which boasted an all-gray aesthetic, was quite drab, and he decided to pair it with a cheap feature wall.
To achieve the Fabulous makeover, Shaun used sheets of MDF, which you can find in stores like Wickes and B&Q, and measured them to ensure an even fit.
Then the father demonstrated in the videohe fixed one of them horizontally to the bottom of the glue-stained wall.
Meanwhile, to create a more 3D effect by using some sheets vertically, Shaun grabbed a spirit level to make sure the end result wasn’t shaky.
Unfortunately for the DIY enthusiast, who posts under the username @shaun.nylandhe had also encountered a small problem during the project – the socket was getting in the way of one of the cuts.
But rather than alter the existing positioning of the MDF sheet panels, Shaun quickly came up with a brilliant solution: measure the panel and cut it in two, leaving some room for fitting.
Once the bedroom paneling was finally finished, the crafty dad began applying the caulking.
”Before we get into the painting, I’m just going to quickly caulk everything […] – it just gives a much cleaner finish.
”Honestly, I think anyone could do this – and if you want to try, I’ve linked everything I used on my profile.”
Another important step he didn’t skip was getting some padding, which you can find on Amazon for around £3.
All pleased with the transformation, which he finished off with a pot of black paint, Shaun said: “There we go, a £30 bedroom update.
“I’m excited!” added the 32-year-old, who said he doesn’t plan to paint the top of the wall white.
