The gardening genius shared clips of his patchy, bald lawn in the video and revealed that the first part of the makeover process is to mow the grass at the lowest height with a lawnmower.

After that, he runs a scarifier over the lawn twice to remove the thatch layer from the lawn and break up the soil.

Scarifiers are designed to encourage healthy lawn growth by removing dead debris from the grass, and you can buy one from Screwfix for £37.99.

The third thing Alexander does to make his lawn look lush is to rake up any thatch left on the grass after scarifying.

He then throws grass seeds (you can buy them on Amazon for £6.99) onto the lawn, to allow new grass to grow.

After this, he applies multi-purpose compost (available on Amazon for £6.99) to the grass and uses a rake to mix the soil and seeds.

Using the mower’s rear roller, it goes across the surface to press the seeds into the soil.

He said: “The seeds are more likely to stay in place and not be blown away or displaced by other natural elements.

“You are more likely to have more success when the seed has a stronger connection to the soil.”

Lastly, Alexander keeps the lawn surface moist for two to three weeks until new grass grows.

Expert Tips for a Lush Lawn

“This is the process I follow and I always get great results,” he said, showing off his lawn, which has now been transformed into a verdant refuge.

The gardener’s video, posted under the username @alexandersgardening, likely left many people impressed as it has racked up more than 2.5 million views on the video-sharing platform.

TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on his tips.

How to Make Your Small Garden Look Bigger

Garden design expert Fiona Jenkins from MyJobQuote.co.uk has created a guide on how to make your small garden look bigger.

Add Shelves – for additional storage and place to store more plants.

Use folding furniture – to take up less space when not in use.

Add privacy – with fences, trellises, brick walls or roofs.

Add a water feature – to make your garden feel like a natural retreat.

Go bright – when choosing plants, opt for strong colors to highlight the space.

Use Large Planters – to get more plants in less space.

Plant vertically – add plants upwards to make your garden look fuller and therefore larger.

Use blue flowers in the borderss – blue flowers and plants disappear and make the garden look bigger.

Grow tall plants – it’s better to think big when it comes to a small garden.

Keep clutter to a minimum – as it can give the illusion of less space than there actually is.

One person said: “It was a sad lawn at first and you have restored it so beautifully,” he said.

Another person added: “Beautiful results.”

A third said: “Very impressive.

“I will do the same.”

A fourth added: “Wow, I didn’t see that coming!”
