A VETERINARY technician has sparked a heated debate after sharing her honest opinion about a popular dog breed.
She confessed that she is prepared for the canine to behave like a “tiny alligator” as soon as she sees him in her diary.
Veterinary technicians are responsible for caring for “injured and sick animals,” but their role may also include general administrative duties, according to In fact.
Employers often require their staff to have prior experience working with animals, knowledge of veterinary medical laboratory procedures, and the ability to “handle animals safely and compassionately.”
However, regardless of many years of experience, working with pets can be extremely challenging.
B (@drinkcoffeesaveanimals) has over 117,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares her career as a specialized veterinary technician.
She unexpectedly went viral on the app when she spoke candidly about her experience with different breeds of dogs.
She said most of the Chihuahuas “want to kill me” during the visit and have “disgusting teeth.”
However, on some occasions, there are some “cute” ones that she is happy to carry in her pocket.
B admitted that the breed’s little legs also make her nervous because they look fragile enough to break.
The veterinary technician said her favorite breed is Labrador retrievers, even though their hair causes rashes and she struggles to keep them still for x-rays.
More than 556,000 people liked her video and thousands took to the comments section to share their thoughts on her chihauhaus claims.
“Normalize the labeling of Chihuahuas as the cruelest dogs!!” one person wrote.
“My first chihuahua was mean, but we got him at six months and it was too late,” said another.
“The next four we raise and COMPLETELY socialize!”
“To be honest, I’m more careful with a Chihuahua than a pitbull,” added a third.
“My mom’s chihuahua needs to be muzzled at the groomer and vet,” wrote another.
Signs that your dog may become dangerous
Dr. Sara Ochoa has been practicing veterinary medicine for over five years.
She told The US Sun that observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that they may act out.
“A dog that appears completely tense, with its fur sticking up or its teeth showing, is more likely to snap,” she said.
“Looking closely without blinking can also mean problems.
“Growling is also a warning that the dog is getting angry.”
She said dogs may tuck their tails between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.
“Remaining calm and maintaining space can help things not escalate if a dog appears nervous,” she said.
Others defended the breed and said they had only had good experiences with their pets.
“My chihuahua is an affectionate pet,” said one person.
“He likes to bite, but he only bites gently.”
“I have a rare chihuahua who is cool!” another wrote.
“Every time a new technology comes out they get hesitant and I’m like ‘she’s not a normal chihuahua’ #exvettech.”
Chihuahuas are “regularly” cited in lists of the top 10 dogs that are rehomed to dog shelters, according to Pets4Homes.
The breed requires “clear rules and guidelines” to prevent them from becoming moody and aggressive over time.
Pet owners should not pet or calm their pets if they growl at someone, as this may inadvertently enable aggression.
