BUYING second-hand products can often be hit or miss – and unfortunately for one Depop shopper, it was the latter.

The fashionista spotted a pair of brown boots on the popular platform and thinking they were a great bargain, the shopper ordered the items – but little did the person know the package would arrive with a dark and “stinky” surprise inside.

Upon opening the package, the buyer discovered that the seller had also thrown panties and other “items”, The mirror reported.

The brown boots arrived stuffed with a red thong and were accompanied by a bra, socks and a handwritten yellow post-it saying “Enjoy”.

However, after contacting the person to complain about the “weird” and gross items, as well as the condition of the boots, which were “peeling”, the Depop seller was quick to deny the complaints.

Sharing the interaction on DramaDM on Instagram, the second-hand fashion lover said: “I had used lingerie stuffed in my boots that smelled really bad.

“This is really unacceptable and strange. The boots are also not brown and are not in perfect condition.

”The leather is peeling everywhere. Please can you issue me a refund for these reasons.”

Despite complaints, the seller insisted that nothing was placed inside the boots, which, according to them, were also “in perfect condition”.

The customer then added that the knickers they allegedly found were from M&S – but the salesperson once again refuted the “absurd” claim.

“Well, explain how they got there? Was it the mailman?” the Depop fan wondered.

Despite complaints, the seller insisted the customer was simply “trying to get a refund” as he “didn’t like the boots”.

The funny but disgusting exchange was posted on social media, where it took the internet by storm, racking up more than 3,200 likes and dozens of comments.

One person was perplexed: “Why would anyone buy anything from these sites, ugh?!

”If you’re eager to buy other people’s junk, go to a thrift store.”

“Why is she complaining… that’s a bonus,” joked another user.

Someone else added: “What a change.”

“EW,” a fourth chimed in.

”I don’t see any photos of the boots. I’m on the sellers’ side, moving forward,” said one Instagram user.

What is Depop and how does it work?

Depop is a global marketplace where sellers can flog pre-loved products and trendy fashionistas can find the perfect fits for their style, often cheaper than the high street.

The way the app works is simple: once you sign up to use the platform, you can start uploading items to your store.

Meanwhile, shoppers can browse Depop and search for specific items using keywords.

The exchange of buying and selling takes place within the app – anyone who wants to snap up your items can send a message before making the purchase – however, this is not necessary to make the purchase.

When a buyer purchases the pre-loved products, the seller receives payment and must ship the item to the buyer.

How listing on Depop works
