A WOMAN has revealed her simple trick for bringing extra luggage onto a Ryanair flight without paying extra, and some are calling it “genius”.

Sam Petrarca shared her tip through a video posted to her TikTok channel, which she often uses to share travel advice and inspiration.

“Beating Ryanair’s personal items system,” she said.

Demonstrating her hack, Sam can be seen queuing for a Ryanair flight at a busy UK airport with a travel pillow wrapped around her neck and just a small bag to take on the plane with her.

Many low-cost airlines, such as Ryanair and Wizz Air, only include a small under-seat suitcase in the price of their tickets and charge customers extra if they want more luggage.

For example, Ryanair charges customers up to £38 each way if they want to bring an extra piece of hand luggage onto their flight.

Sam then removed the pillow from around her neck and unzipped it, revealing that she had stuffed several articles of clothing inside.

She explained that she had removed the pillow’s inner lining and instead used clothes that didn’t fit in her small bag to pad the pillow.

In the small space inside the pillow, Sam was able to fit tops, socks and even a washcloth.

You can buy a travel pillow on Amazon for around £8, much cheaper than the price of extra luggage on a plane.

Plus, they’re also super comfortable and great for helping you prepare for long flights.

‘It fits so much’ Primark fans go crazy over the Ryanair-approved, super-spacious under-seat travel bag

“When the bag doesn’t have enough space, but you don’t want to spend money on carry-on luggage,” she said, smiling proudly at the camera.

Sam’s video, which was posted under the username @sampetrarca4likely left many impressed as it racked up over 1.2 million views on the video-sharing platform.

TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts, with many testifying that the trick worked for them on flights.

One user said: “Genius.”

Another said: “I do this all the time and it works really well.”

A third said: “I did the same thing to my whole family and no one said anything.”

Tips for flying with Ryanair

  • All Ryanair passengers are allowed to bring a small personal bag on board, but this must fit under the seat in front of you, but must be no larger than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm
  • Any oversized cabin bags will be refused at the boarding gate and placed in the hold for a fee.
  • Ryanair also charges passengers up to £55 when checking in at the airport
  • Anyone who loses their card at the airport will have to pay a £20 reissuance fee
  • Book a seat in the first five rows if you want to get off the plane first
  • Seats with extra legroom can be found in rows 1 A, B, C or 2 D, E, F, as well as rows 16 and 17 near the emergency exit
  • The worst seat on Ryanair’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft is also 11A due to the lack of window.

A fourth said: “I once got on a flight where someone was carrying the biggest pillowcase I’ve ever seen, which was clearly full of clothes.

“People didn’t bat an eyelid.”

A fifth commented: “Iconic.”

And Sam isn’t the only travel genius who recently shared a clever luggage hack.

Travel influencer @msgarnagain recently showed social media users how she gets extra luggage just by buying a bottle of water for £1.45.
