It’s no secret that buying a house is very expensive, but when a couple managed to bag their first home at age 22, they didn’t realize how much more they would have to shell out to do so.

Anya Clements and her partner shelled out to buy their apartment at such a young age in July.

The couple has already decorated some of the rooms “from scratch” but there is still a long way to go before they feel at home.

“We wanted to do the entire home renovation in less than a year, and in doing so, we started with the easiest options,” Anya explained in a viral clip on social media.

Starting with the bedrooms, the duo began working to transform the outdated look into something much more modern.

In one of the rooms, they opted for a beautiful green covering on the walls and a neutral-colored carpet, which ended up looking super trendy.

“Bedrooms are the cheapest and easiest things to decorate, so we did that first and then moved on to the harder stuff,” she explained.

So far, the pair have managed to stick to a fairly strict budget for the renovation – mostly taking on the work themselves.

But now they took it to TikTok ask strangers for help.

With a huge bathroom downstairs, a garden and the rest of the house’s exterior still in need of work, Anya begged TikTok users to interact with her videos in a bid to raise the money needed to finish the renovation.

Showing the current configuration of the garden, which currently characteristics lush flower beds and pretty but old concrete slabs, she said she was paid £15,000 to rip it all out and get the garden of her dreams.

Something much more elegant and modern would be more ideal for the young homeowner, who went on to show off a photo of her dream outdoor space, complete with lighting and a totally stylish patio.

The same story happens with the bathroom that still needs to be renovated – doing it without professional help would cost a fortune.

“So you’re probably wondering how I’m going to get £30 in four months,” Anya said at the end of the video.

The owner then revealed that she discovered this is entirely possible thanks to “TikTok’s new creativity program.”

“I’ve found out that I’m going to need 60 million views to get £30,000, so if you guys can help me by following me or even liking this video, I promise I’ll deliver and show you the makeover,” Anya said.

After sharing her plan on TikTok, people had mixed reactions to her plan, but mostly they were shocked by her gardening goals.

One commented: “Everyone’s garden looks like the one you mentioned. I love the one you have. Save £15k girl!”

A second agreed that the garden didn’t need a total overhaul, and said: “Don’t touch the garden!

“Definitely prioritize the bathroom, the garden is beautiful,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, others were surprised by the size of the bathroom and couldn’t wait to see the transformation.

“The bathroom is huge, what a dream, you can do a lot of things with it”, said one of them.

Who is eligible for the First Home program?

ONLY first-time buyers can buy a home under the First Home scheme and it is not available in Wales or Scotland.

As the scheme aims to help buyers on lower incomes move up the property ladder, you won’t be eligible if your combined household income is more than £80,000, or £90,000 if you live in London.

Those who can purchase one of the homes without a mortgage will not be eligible for assistance.

Buyers must use a mortgage for at least 50% of the discounted home price.

However, other conditions may be set by local councils, so eligibility criteria may vary depending on where you intend to buy.

For example, some authorities may prioritize key workers.

But after the first three months of homes being sold, additional conditions set by the local authority will be removed for any First Homes that have not been sold or reserved.
