A WOMAN was furious with her neighbor after he decided to buy a hot tub.

Although the hot tub isn’t a problem, she revealed that it makes noise constantly and has ruined her family’s time in the garden.

Despite being upset about the hot tub, many said she had to suck it up, especially when she had complaints about the noise itself.

She explained, “Is AIBU really upset about my neighbor’s new inflatable hot tub? For context, we’re a family of four in a family-friendly neighborhood.”

We are bathed in sound as soon as we leave

She revealed that as a family, they make noise while the children take music lessons and play in the garden, but try to keep it to a minimum.

“Basically, we are very sensitive to our neighbors’ dislike of noise, as they live alone and say they don’t like the sound of children,” she added.

But now that her neighbor has a hot tub installed right next to her fence, she doesn’t know what to do.

“It’s on all the time, 24/7, with a buzzing sound that’s impossible to turn off,” she explained.

“We can also hear it in the bathroom, kitchen and two back bedrooms if the windows are open.

“We told the neighbors about this and at first they were very receptive, building a soundproof box to house the bomb.

“But it made almost no difference and we are bathed in sound as soon as we leave.”

Although her neighbor tried to solve the problem, it didn’t work, so the mother went over to see if anything else could be done.

Neighborhood nightmares: stories of disputes gone wrong

But the neighbor gave up – claiming that it was “just like a refrigerator” and that the family should get used to it, just as they had to get used to it with their children.

Shocked by the comment, she added: “Literally, as you have children laughing, babbling and crying, I have a hot tub, c’est la vie.

“Which made me really sad because comparing kids to a hot tub is just mean?!”

She said she doesn’t want the bathtub removed — but wants a way to make it less noisy.

How tall should a garden fence be?

Despite what many people think that a garden fence can be up to 100m high, you need to obtain planning permission for any fence over 2m high.

Any fence less than 2m does not need planning permission.

However, there are some complications with this.

If you are considering front garden fencing, restrictions dictate that fencing along a driveway can be a maximum of 1m or 3ft.

You would need to get planning permission to put a truss on a 2m fence.

But, if any plant you grow on that trellis exceeds 2m, you do not need to obtain a license to grow the plant.

“We are being friendly but honest in sharing how we feel because this is literally ruining our outdoor space. It’s a lot noisier than a refrigerator… more like a substation,” she said.

Taking to Mothers NetworkShe asked what she should do next but many agreed that there was nothing she could do but swallow.

One person wrote: “Hang in there. They’ll eventually get bored or panic when they get their first electric bill. Either way, I don’t see this as a permanent problem.”

Another commented: “You can’t change this, so the quicker you accept it the better. You’ll stop noticing it soon – it’s only obvious because it’s new and now you’re stressed about it so it all seems exaggerated.

“You’re annoying them with your noise and now they’re annoying you back, unless you live in the middle of nowhere then there’s nothing you can really do,” wrote a third.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “They are correct, the noise from the hot tub is annoying to you, your kids are annoying to them, that’s life when you live around people.”

“Then neighbors You have to put up with your sounds, but don’t you have to put up with theirs? Yes, you are being an advertiser,” said a fifth

Another person added: “Unfortunately you can’t tell them what they can and can’t do in their own garden, just like they can’t do the same to you.”
