Editor FarmBred Intellectual shared their pet tips in a post.

They explained that aspiring pet parents, in their anxiety, often make disastrous mistakes.

While they encouraged the adoption of mixed breeds, they encouraged people to do due diligence if they insisted on having a pure breed.

“If you MUST have a purebred animal, research the breed thoroughly before purchasing,” they wrote.

Another mistake, they added, is paying large sums of money for the popular doodle breed.

“Doodles are mixed breed dogs. Don’t pay 2 grand for one,” they said.

Additionally, they warned those who are prone to allergies to stay away from doodles for their own good.

“Hypoallergenic/non-shedding is NOT guaranteed with a doodle, it’s a genetic lottery,” they said.

The vet revealed other breeds that they personally would never adopt.

“Don’t buy a brachycephalic/ugly-faced dog!” they said.

I’m a vet and I’m fed up with so-called ‘therapy dogs’ – their owners are full of it, the biggest red flag

Brachycephalic breeds include bulldogs, pugs and boxers.

The breed is known for having a variety of health problems, including increased rates of skin diseases.

Other common conditions in brachycephalic breeds include heat intolerance, digestive disorders, urinary tract infection, dental disease, pneumonia, and intervertebral disc disease.

Lastly, the veterinarian asked potential pet parents to carefully consider their lifestyle and budget before making a decision.

“Pets cost money. Don’t buy a pet if you’re not prepared to invest in it,” they said.

Other veterinarians supported his sentiments, especially his opinion on brachycephalic breeds.

“Never touch a dog without asking and never buy a breed with a flat face,” one added.

The veterinarian explained that the breed’s exacerbated health problems are also an obstacle for them.

Signs that your dog may become dangerous

Expert advice from Dr. Sara Ochoa, who has practiced veterinary medicine for over five years.

Ochoa told The US Sun that observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that he may act out.

“A dog that appears completely tense, with its fur sticking up or its teeth showing, is more likely to snap,” she said.

“Looking closely without blinking can also mean problems.

“Growling is also a warning that the dog is getting angry.”

She said dogs may tuck their tails between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.

“Remaining calm and maintaining space can help things not escalate if a dog appears nervous,” she said.

They listed their problems, saying they struggle with “breathing, spinal stenosis, seizures, [palate]just [off] the top of my head.”

A third veterinarian added his thoughts on what it takes to ethically adopt a purebred dog.

“If you feel the need to purchase a purebred dog, first do some research into that breed’s temperament, lifestyle needs, and breed-related illnesses to be sure you can provide what they need,” they said. they.

“And if you’re buying a breed with a high chance of many complicated health problems, get insurance.”

“But seriously…adopt, don’t shop whenever possible.

“People have the misconception that shelter dogs are bad or damaged in some way. That may be true for some, but most are amazing pets.”
