A YARD is better than ever after a shine from its owner.

They said the DIY patio is what made all the difference in their home renovation.

Editor Trillva posted photos of the update on the social media platform.

“Total backyard makeover,” they wrote.

The Reddit user said it was his first time doing a home renovation.

“My brother helped me build the fence in one day,” they said.

“I built the patio in about four weeks, working many nights and weekends.

“I’m the type of person who focuses on finishing something so I have more time to enjoy it.

“The other small projects I completed over time, in an afternoon or over a weekend.”

LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE

The backyard patio clearly had some TLC, with much of the excess removed.

The Reddit user also added a well-paved patio and mood lighting.

“The paving yard involved removing three tons of dirt, which I did manually with a shovel,” they said.

My DIY decor transformed my yard – I turned a $6 thrift purchase into a centerpiece and hung plants with a Dollar Tree find

“I then filled the hole with about eight inches of compacted gravel to establish a solid foundation before pouring in the sand and laying down the paving.

“Since my yard slopes slightly upwards away from the house, I decided to add a small step into the grass and level the patio toward an existing drain to help with water drainage.”

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

The DIY-savvy Redditor explained how implementing certain pieces outdoors made all the difference.

They installed a custom-made fireplace purchased from Facebook Marketplace.

How to make your backyard a little paradise

Houna Bech is an interior designer and founder of the style blog With Houna.

She revealed to The US Sun five tips for transforming a drab outdoor space into a “little paradise rich in senses.”

1. Embrace nature

“Use your landscaping, trees, flowers and organic environment as your muse,” she said.

2. Bring it inside out

“Repeat color palettes, textures and materials so the transition between indoor and outdoor is seamless,” she said.

3. Create zones for specific purposes

“I could design a luxurious cabin with lounge chairs and plush vanities for outdoor makeup sessions with my friends,” she said.

4. Prioritize comfort

“I’m talking cloud-like sectionals, overstuffed sofas, and large, weather-resistant ottomans that you can really wrap yourself in,” she said.

5. Be creative

“Finally, transform your entire outdoor area into an art installation,” said Bech.

“Some other little touches include string lights, an ‘accent wall fence’ with some leftover paint from the porch,” they said.

They also stained their new fence before adding a clear coat and used “some pre-existing rocks to add flower beds and a walkway to the back gate.”

“My only future plans are to add a small shed in the back corner of the yard.”

They said the cost of the yard was worth it for a job well done.

“I think it was about $3,000 plus hours of my own work,” they said.

“But it’s worth it to me.”

They said the end result cost them around $3,000 and 'hours of work' [their] own work', but 'it was worth it'
